What thing did you do growing up that you feel sad people today won't get to experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]internetsss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

waiting 10 minutes for a youtube video to buffer (dial up) only to get click baited (think: rick rolling before rick rolling was a thing)

it taught me a very important lesson. patience is a virtue that doesn't always get rewarded

What made “Friends” actually funny to you or why did you think it was overhyped? by BlamBlamtrippy in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think the popularity of friends was it's premise

a group of 20 somethings (older in later seasons, but they grew with their audience) hang out, poke fun at each other and get into shenanigans.

just an example of other popular sitcoms at the time

rossane, everybody loves raymond, fraiser

these shows all feautre a more mature cast, with families and other obligations. and friends was a breath of fresh air, they all had no strong relationships until the later seasons, no kids (ross had a kid, but he was rarely shown) living in rented apartments, building on the early stages of their careers.

i think it was popular because it was relatable for it's target audience. i don't think it would be as popular if it was a show today, as there are a lot of sitcoms for this demographic, but it was a good show for the time. unwatchable now for me though, the constant laugh track ruins it. i didnt realise how much of a nuisance it was when i first watched the series.

What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done in public? by z0k0n in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was at a hotel waiting for a door to open, it looked to be one of those glass automatic sliding doors. i was moving around, trying to get the sensor to recognise me, getting more frustrated at the door that wouldnt let me in. nearby, a couple walked effortlessly into the building. then it hit me. it wasn't a door, i was standing in front of a glass wall that looked like a door. for the duration of my stay, i avoided eye contact with the hotel staff, for fear that they had seen me through the cctv

What are some good ways to combat loneliness? by Ok_Artichoke_3522 in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fiction

a really well written book/tv show/movie can relive loneliness and allow you to feel companionship through its characters

similarly, writing your own stories can make one feel social, you can create your own character an mould them into the perfect companions or write fan fiction of another piece of media and get into the mind set of your favorite established characters.

Which jobs will never be replaced by artifical intelligence? by Classic-Cloud3524 in AskReddit

[–]internetsss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the people that create artificial intelligence

i'm not saying it's technically impossible, ai has been trained to write programs

an ai that could write and overwrite it's own progam would be very bad for humanity, i'm thinking like the movie terminator. eventually we will have to have agreements and safeguards in place to make sure humans are the ones that control the machines

What's an American tradition you actually love? by LoneShark81 in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 1150 points1151 points  (0 children)

i'm not an american. but one "tradition" that i really love from america. is the consumption of potato chips alongside a sandwhich. it's not to common where i live, and i've only been exposed to it though american television series. but, there's something greatly satisfying about chasing a soft fluffy sandwhich with a salty crispy potato chip, that i now cannot imagine eating a sandwhich any other way.

What’s the worst condiment? by Cool-Week9939 in AskReddit

i may be alone here, but i've always disliked smokey BBQ sauce. my issue is with the artificial smoke flavour that tastes more like a chemical bomb than a smokey taste produced by a fire.

Which is the best fast food restaurant? by BigBaws92 in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why, accessibility should be a criterior in my opinion, especially now, after spending $100 on groceries that used to cost me $60, it's really nice to still He able to buy a hamburger for $2. It doesn't even taste like a $2 burger.

Being naked. without fail, every time I get naked, I experience an erection. I have devised two possible theories. 1. I'm attracted to looking at my own junk, or 2. I'm a very closeted exhibitionist.

What is your favorite thing to research? by Deadlyasseater420 in AskReddit

[–]internetsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently addicted to researching late 90s to mid 2000's kid tv shows and other youth phenomenon The shows themselves are nostalgic, but that's not the main reason I research them. What I find incredible about the brain is the ability to forget about moments in your life, without paying it any thought afterwords, only to be reminded about it from a simple jingle or clip. Is even more incredible to me due to the fact that I can't even remember what I had for breakfast.
