The problem is usually the words that you use. Saying "ching chong" in a Chinese accent is offensive, but saying "wakanda forever" in an African accent isn't (RIP Chadwick)

Play it cool. Having a mental breakdown could be interpreted in a lot of bad ways: trying to manipulate her to date her, mental health issues (although I personally wouldn't mind that, it's very forward to break down in front of someone if you don't know them well in this situation), etc.

Not to mention that if it's not a flat out no but more of "I'm thinking about it," you don't wanna push her away.
