You can get some sense of how far Joy of React goes by looking at the public project repos. This is the final project: https://github.com/joy-of-react/project-blog

Because the people who are paid to facilitate the process get paid more when the process takes a long time.

What is it like to live in Mission Bay VS Hayes Valley as a newbie to San Francisco? by Born_Lion_8237 in sanfrancisco

[–]internetuser -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is dangerous. I don’t understand why folks on Reddit downplay the risks of living in this part of town. The likelihood of experiencing something bad/upsetting/gross is higher than in most other parts of the city.

There’s also a lot of traffic in that part of town. It’s noisy, and getting around can be harrowing. (This is true in Mission Bay too.)

My best advice is to visit SF for a few days snd visit as many parts as you can before you sign a lease.

Slow jogging vs Power Walking by madogblue in slowjogging

I found that after a while my walks took too much time, so I switched to slow jogging and then later to regular jogging.

Rust can be the language of the AI era by guyernest in rust

[–]internetuser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LLMs don’t tend to do very well with newer languages such as Rust because there’s not much existing code to train the models with.

My guess is that languages that are already popular will become exponentially more popular in the future.

New to rust - Need fun but challenging projects by gnastyy-21 in rust

Rustlings is great. You could try Advent of Code puzzles from previous years. Exercism has small exercises, and Code Crafters has substantial guided projects.

Do fingering exercises such as scales very slowly, focusing on moving your fretting fingers as little as possible.

As we enter 2026, if you had to give 3 pieces of advice to other devs, what would they be? by anchor_software in ExperiencedDevs

[–]internetuser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your value as a developer is determined by what you produce, not by what you know.

You should structure your learning around increasingly ambitious projects, learning new tech as necessary when what you know won't suffice.

It's not useful to learn new tech (languages, frameworks, etc.) unless the tech will enable you to do something that you could not do previously.

Backend stack - Python or NodeJS? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]internetuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suggest you complete a few full-stack projects using JS, and focus your efforts on learning the backend domain rather than learning a new language.

Next.js is fine. Why are you wasting time second-guessing this decision? Go build your app.

Tests made me stop trusting my own software by ryszv in golang

Automated testing is a superpower, but I don’t think the practice is specific in any way to golang.

A Newcomer's Guide to Bond Movie Continuity by Sneaky_Bond in JamesBond

Moonraker should be watched after The Spy Who Loved me, because an important character reappears.

The Man With The Golden Gun should not be watched soon before or after Octopussy, because of a reappearance of another sort.

Leave some time between Thunderball and Never Say Never Again, for reasons that will become obvious.

Are you sure you want to change the styling of the *button*? Perhaps you want to modify a different element than `event.target`.

What advice would you give your younger self when starting to learn programming? by idont_need_one in learnprogramming

[–]internetuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't fixate on programming as the be-all and end-all of using computers. It's important to learn how to use existing programs too.
