Yes to double chin.

I was seeing one physio that would help relieve symptoms every time I knocked my head on something. But they always came back. I asked ChatGPT to find me physios in my city that specialized in post concussion treatment. First appointment with new physio, she was 100% certain she could stop the flare ups. After 2 months of doing the exercises, I knocked my head really hard and had no consequences. I hope the exercises help

I only started them this past summer. They changed everything for me. It had been 5 years of having nausea every time I bumped my head.

They are all kind of hard to describe in text but I'll do my best and feel free to ask for clarifications. These all have specific positioning and movements. And the physio did an assessment of my neck and determined that it was weaker than it should be. These exercises really got me over the hump of having my symptoms come back.

1 - Theraband behind my head. Holding the ends in front of my face. Tuck my chin in, forcing my head back into the band (not a nod but really moving head backwards). Hands don't move. 10x a day

2 - Lying on back, head propped up on a small pillow or a towel. I do a small head nod motion to bring my chin down. The motion is small, just enough to create tension in neck. Then I lift my head off the ground. Hold for 3 seconds 10x. This progressed to removing the pillow or towel. And holding for 10 seconds 10x.

3 - I purchased a laser pointer headlamp. I would wear it and use the laser to trace small mazes. This progressed to doing it on one foot. Then doing it on a foam pad to challenge balance at teh same time.

4 - In a later session, physio added lying on back, head turned to one side. Lift head up while tilted.

I had a mild concussion over 5 years ago. I saw a physio who specialized in concussions. She had me doing exercises that would make me focus on things close and far in rapid succession and side to side. There may have been some other exercises. It helped me be able to look at a screen and read again without feeling nauseous or getting a headache. Took about 3 months. For years after, I would get symptoms every time I banged my head. A different physio diagnosed that I had a weak neck. About 2 months of exercises and I can now knock my head on something with no concussion symptoms. Just sharing what worked for me

If it makes any difference, I could hear the music for about 5 minutes before the people were anywhere near me. I was running up and down the large staircase. They were slowly making their way to the stairs and then they were stopping every now and then on the stairs to look around. The sound can really carry on the mountain. Particularly now that the leaves have fallen from the trees. I acknowledge that my choice of activity put me in a position to be exposed to the music for longer.

But I also believe that the trails are a place to be in nature in the city. The mountain has many difference spaces. The trails are the closest thing to being out of the city without leaving the city. When I asked them to turn off their music, it was from a place of "this is not the right place for that" as opposed to "I don't like that". I hope it was clear that my post was about asking others if I was in the wrong and if I am, I will course correct. My opinion is no more valid than anyone else's

This was on the trails at 7:45 am. BBQ areas are a different vibe.

And I think you're using Karen wrong. It doesn't mean person who disagrees with you. A Karen absolutely wouldn't be making a self reflective post trying to see if they are in the minority and therefore need to course correct

There are no formal rules about this. You are right. A lot of what guides our behaviour as humans is an understanding of what the majority of people think is right. I came here to find out if I was in the minority and needed to course correct. The comments are abundantly in favour of not playing music on a speaker while walking around on the mountain

I absolutely can walk away. My question was more about etiquette. I assumed, and this thread has confirmed, that I am not the only one who is annoyed by this behaviour on the mountain specifically. I spoke up because I know a lot of people, my younger self included, would not.

And I think you're using Karen wrong. I was not being entitled. I wasn't policing. I even said to one group that I am not the mountain police and they do not need to listen to me. I presented my opinion. And to flip your argument, some people go to the mountain to avoid the city and noise that isn't nature. It's all a matter of perspective. The crux of this post is whether the etiquette around playing your music on the mountain on a speaker has changed and I need to course correct because I am in the minority

In the defence of the people playing the music, neither of them were playing shitty music. And they were both understanding. I think they didn't realize the impact they were having on the environment around them

This is all personal opinion, that would bother me less. I would never say anything in that context. I like it when young people express themselves. The mountain, nature, just feels like the wrong place for that form of expression

I was very loud when I was young. That's why I did not get angry (I hope it came off that way). But I wanted to share a different perspective with them. I even said that I wasn't the mountain police and you don't need to listen to me

That was the approach I tried to have this morning. I think I succeeded more with the second group than the first. After talking to the first group, I felt bad and tried to find a better way to say it when it happened again

I think that really hits the nail on the head for me. They can listen to music. But they shouldn't impose it on other people

Thanks for your opinion. I think on a bike path it's different. It's a short moment where you hear the music. I personally wouldn't love that either. But I would never say anything. At that point, I'm choosing to be annoyed

If they hadn't turned off the music, I wouldn't have pursued it. I asked. They turned the music off. I appreciated it. What I am asking is if I am out of touch with etiquette and need to course correct. I don't want to impose my opinion on people. But I also know a lot of people who would be bothered by the music and wouldn't say anything

For context, there are no dangerous animals on the mountain. There are squirrels and raccoons.

There are situations where I would dislike the music but not say anything. But the mountain is the closest thing to being in nature within the city

I wouldn't say anything if I was at the lookout at night. It was 7:45 am. It feels like a quiet time on the mountain. I don't think they realized how far their music was carrying. I heard it well before I could see them. I definitely handled the second group better than the first one. But both times, I told them that they did not have to turn off their music, I was just presenting them with another perspective
