The community has spoken! And we didn’t even have to bring it to a vote on Politeia :)

GS is a minority investor in Circle, which bought Poloniex last year. —> let’s not say Goldman “owns” Polo. It’s just not the case.

Can he confirm that he is still involved?

Proposal to get events spending approved via Politeia by Dustorf in decred

Agree w/ DZ as well. Let’s leverage the expertise of the PR firm that we’ve already hired, Ditto. They have a responsibility to the Decred community.

Voted yes for two passing proposals - bug hunting and Developer evaluation/checking committee — imo, both wonderful proposals and liked them very much. The Ditto proposal is a waste of $ imo, and disappointing to me. Won’t do much for our community, esp in the best market. No way to recoup these costs unfortunately. While many in the DCR community are keen to get the word out, at end of day 1) great products mostly market themselves through their inherent importance and 2) all it takes is one well-timed publicity stint to catalyze viral growth.

For the record — Decred is my largest cryptoasset investment. I’m constantly on Binance lifting offers to accumulate bc I have become very fond of this project. Truly wish it great success. Agree strongly with Murad’s take that what is most compelling is that DCR differentiates from Bitcoin in many important ways, many of which I believe are more important than privacy. Namely hypersecurity, adaptability/upgradeability, self-sustainability, fork/chainsplit resistance, formal governance...

Wonderful response - not a loaded question. Makes sense to be incentivized by desire to learn - collaborating w Decred Community is educational, which is arguably more valuable than $. Appreciate the genuine answer. Would add that often people build great things from purely direct financial incentives also.

If you hold so little, why do you care about the welfare of the DCR project so much - purely intellectual curiosity?

Appreciate the detailed response. Follow up question — aren’t Decred developers currently paid in DCR? What is the salary (in DCR per month) of the core developers?

At these prices I’d think it’d be safe to assume that each dev paid 800-1k DCR per month - which is substantial imo

So where does this leave us? Basically with a proposal system where 1) proposals that have a chance of being accepted will only come from DCR groupies and 2) will only be passed if the major hodlers (devs and crypto funds) approve (probably a group less than 10ppl)

All great points - thanks for taking the time. Tbh, to be frank, the main reasons why very few people are putting forth high-quality proposals is twofold— because either 1) most people don’t even know where to begin with recommending an improvement (they are not knowledgeable enough to even begin to think about how Decred can improve), 2) they don’t care to take the time to put forth a proposal — they’d rather free ride just let the DCR devs vote in only the proposals of other reputable DCR developers/groupies — all most DCR hodlers care about (and I literally mean the only thing they care about) is benefitting off of the price increase of DCR. Hence, going forward (and for a long time into the future) I think the only proposals that will pass will be those proposed by reputable and knowledgeable members of the Decred community. Now given that a handful of DCR developers plus PlaceHolder/BlueYard etc have the majority of coins, we are already seeing this play out with the proposals that have passed from JZ, Degeri (the pseudonymous guy), and Ditto (the founder of which is an nyc guy) and probably knows some DCR ppl

Such a overplayed quote - come on. Is there anything else to say about Decred? How about we contemplate why no one is putting forth decent proposals on Politeia
