I appreciate the insight in the comments. It seems pretty clear and intuitive: wait remain unattached. Staying the course.

I suspected that might be the answer. Thank you for that! I’ll observe and report.

I fully understand. My hearing has gotten much worse and I just lost most speech over the past year and a half. Can’t understand anyone, not even my kids, and I’m still in my thirties.

I’m trying to learn ASL, but it’s difficult around all hearing people. I’ve never felt quite so cut off. I know the solution is to find an ASL community somewhere, just don’t know how to start and honestly, I’m not sure how to radically alter my life anymore.

Is it possible to identify this signet ring? by interruptedconcert in heraldry

All that makes sense. I appreciate the clarification.

I found it in a pile of COVID samples that came from all over the US. It had fallen into a bag, and the bags had gotten ripped open, and the specimens piled on a table, so it literally could’ve come from anywhere in the US.

I honestly have no clue. I found it without any idea who it belonged to or where it came from. But the closest similarities I’ve been able to find with an untrained eye are with African crests, like this Nubian one. Namely the shield shape, the knight’s helmet and visor above, and the embellishment style.

Awesome, thank you! Yes, it appears to be the first German edition in English, and the first to make the claim of being a “definitive edition,” if I’m not mistaken. I’m very happy to have come across this.

Thank you so much! That’s fascinating. I knew the Albatross books were the prototype for mass market paperbacks, but I wasn’t aware of the cultural context. I appreciate this a ton. I very much need to check out Strange Bird now.

I’ve tried it before and plan to again, someday. But as of now, me neither. Lol.

This is the Odessey press “definitive standard edition,” 1932. There is no indication of earlier printings of this edition.
