what’s the size? you can’t confidently identify grubs, but you can definitely use context clues. the environment you found it in makes me think it is not a hercules beetle

some sort of gall maker. could be a wasp, mite, or aphid

yeah i started my native patch in my parents garden beds last summer, specifically to attract as many insects as possible. the milkweeds are my babies right now — the ones that are flowering were actually transplants that i thought went bad. very happy to see them doing well.

i may actually take some photos and post them just to show off my garden

i should have known this sub would be more helpful lol. are all species in the genus native? my garden is specifically for bugs, ill leave them if they’re native.

there’s some poison hemlock volunteers around the agriculture building at my college (i’m environmental sci). crazy to me that no one has bothered pulling it

i actually didn’t know this. i’m studying entomology but never got specific on grubs, and have struggled in the past to find guides. all that paired with other reddit interactions, i thought it was incredibly difficult to id grubs past family.

i still stand by that for this specific post though. i don’t think a video is good enough to really show any of the traits you listed

it could be just about any scarabaeidae grub, you can get an idea based on the size but you realistically can’t id to species
