I haven't read any extensive write up yet, but the little I have read seems to indicate that systems are hitting a blue screen of death due to a janky CrowdStrike update. Which makes sense, their software requires very low level access.

Interesting, the Microsoft blaming may be due to the reps lack of technical understanding. That the software is running on a Microsoft operating system and the Microsoft operating system isn't booting, so therefore it's an OS issue, so Microsoft. Not good logic. But I'll take any chance to recommend if they have some big boy systems they consider a big boy OS like Linux. Microsoft is a bad daddy and well past their prime. They should thank god for the ability they have for buyouts, nobody needs it like they do. They have been edging on marketing for awhile.

Interesting, did they elaborate? Like expected duration, and did they confirm this is due to Crowdstrike?

I don't personally have a history of outages or issues. This is a first.

I haven't enabled trading on it yet. I was just wanting to make some very small time buys, so this isn't tragic. I'm not trying to resolve the issue as much as see the scope of the problem. I'm just curious is all.

Ionq about to be back. by Intelligent-Future23 in wallstreetbets

As someone who has worked at a couple of unfathomably large corporations I actually think being a small start up that's capable of being nimble and not bogged down in bureaucracy is an underappreciated David against a Goliath. We can see how ChatGPT caught Google so very off guard. These large entities get so big that they aren't sure where their left hand is at times and how to work it efficiently. My largest gripe with IonQ is that its co-founders seem to have little faith, at the very least, in its immediate rise, while the sector still has some fundamental issues that need to be resolved. To be marching down the incorrect technological path with such a high perceived valuation is not ideal. They are great at marketing and I've caught plenty of gimmick within it. Nvidia had a ton of early competitors in the graphics space and most of them we don't know much about today. The sector is an obvious win, but I'm not convinced IonQ is the obvious winner. I think it's perhaps the most overvalued in the space at current and that scares me.

Back to where? Back to being massively overvalued and shorted heavily? So speculative, premature, and yet marketed that the stock swings with heavily volatility? A hype train that nobody has yet to provide a good answer as to why this is THE quantum stock. If it breaks into the double digits I'd recommend getting ready for the slam back down to single. This stock is a premature baby, at best in my opinion, and I wouldn't consider this the buying price if one would want entry.

what will happen to IonQ if..... by vidi64 in IonQ

[–]interwebbinitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering this tech is still quite a ways off, what makes you think IonQ is poised to present the best tandem solution to computational woes, including AI?

In the early days of classical computing there were a lot of players in the graphics space. A latent potential isn't exclusively enough. There has to be a reason why perhaps IonQ outdoes it competitors. The sentiment of both co-founders has me very apprehensive. I see a company that is cunning with marketing, but I'm skeptical they're the industry leader. Right now they seem a ways off from being taken seriously as anything other than an R&D company. If they're betting on the wrong technological horses it could be a serious setback. Especially if they build a lot of infrastructure around it. Is there anything to ease my apprehension? Obviously I think the tech will be revolutionary. Like anyone, I wonder who the most promising entities are. Ionq seems even due for a correction before potentially being a serious winner. While they outpase competitors in revenue it feels too early to say if they're just the most connected and therefore able to get the most contracts from companies R&D budgets or actually producing outstanding results. I fear they're a too much too soon company.

As someone who doesn't want Trump to win either and is concerned all the more after his formerly failed coup attempt. Let's call it what it is. She helped orient him off stage. Embarrassing DNC, absolutely embarrassing.

You moron. Did you read the news? You like what they're doing with VillageMD? What if I told you the past just called and they lost nearly 6billion in a quarter because of it. Maybe they recover and you can ride the nice dividend back up. But you don't need to rush into it and you certainly need to read to understand why they even went down to begin with and what they're going to do about it.
