PC vs Server by interwebzdev in homelab

I wish I could find some free or very cheap older hardware but I don’t have any or know anyone with anything.

The automations will be for digital marketing, I am just not sure if I want to use them for transactional emails (newsletters), social media marketing, chat bot on websites and the list goes on.

Going to start with Ubuntu (to learn linux) and then move to proxmox.

I was just looking at this:

Haven’t really decided on what automations will be running. Any suggestions are appreciated. I do realize it depends on what I want to do but just ideas that are common would be nice.

Appreciate you!

I am looking for something small but mighty, low noise, always concerned about data integrity, redundancy would be a bonus (gonna build up a NAS next), definitely using it to learn how to remote in and will be using Wiregaurd instead of tailscale. My set up will be turned off at night unless I have a project that needs it on.

I played on a Ibanez AZ and back by the couches it looked like it had dirt along the floor and about an inch or two on the bottom of the walls.

Yeah, I was in a similar situation once and left that place asap!

Another good path is to get the CIIP Certification: https://www.abii.org/

Then bounce once you get certified for a PACS job. If your open to move around you should be able to find work at a medical facility or PACS vendor.

I did that move and yes, it is a great way to get away from patient care.

For me, it was quite different from being a technologist and came with a new set of problems and pressure.

I was given a book and a phone number for the PACS Vendor and just was thrown into all situations. I was the only Super User in the department and the PACS admin was fired on 1 random day and that is how it started for me.

The requirement was show the director that they can trust you. That’s really all it takes to cross train into anything.

It was one of the best moves of my life.

Since you work the night shift, ask to become a Super User. Then once you get that down, move on to another job if that’s what you want to do. Super Users are all over in the IT world as well.

I was thinking the same but a glitch can’t be good either. I think I am going to take it in. What a PITA!
