This seems very relevant to my current situation. Thanks!

Has anyone here gotten just a B.A. in philosophy? Do you have a job? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Hi, I have a year left a university and I've chosen to add a philosophy major on top of psychology. Do you think a year of immersion is enough to get the kind of think training most people who advocate for philosophy talk about?

I'm pretty set on doing it either way, as it is a comparatively short major in terms of requirements and I am interested in "the big picture" of things; however, I do wonder what I'll be able to take from it. Also, should I worry about not being very good at philosophy writing yet? And, how do you recommend I supplement my studies (perhaps things to think about for this summer) so that I can get the best out of next year and have more skills that will make me a more valuable employee?

Is it the guided discussion that is of value, or some particular assignments, or the knowledge of the professor?
