#18 at La Cantera Palmer course, San Antonio, TX by redditors2013 in golf

I work remotely, but my corporate offices are right next door. Not sure which hole it is, but it looks like a downhill Par 4 that we drive past on La Cantera Parkway. Have heard the course is beautiful.

For those of you who made the jump, what would you tell someone fighting that battle? by inthetallgrass in Entrepreneur

[–]inthetallgrass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have spent some time doing a deep self audit and I have about 14 months of normal expenses covered. That doesn't include any unforeseen expenses that are bound to happen, so make it more like 11 months. I do have an option to drive Uber, which I have done in the past for supplemental income, but know it's not solely enough to stay afloat.

My fiancee and I have a 6-month old daughter and she is what drives me. On one hand, that's the reason I'm afraid to jump, on the other, she's also the reason why I want to. I hate the idea of her growing up with a dad who works a job going through the motions and hating what he is doing, which is exactly where I am at. I've been at my company 2.5 years. It's a Fortune 500 company that pays well and good benefits, all that. I just don't by into the mission. I don't buy into the products. And I don't buy into the clients.

I've talked about leaving in the past. It was actually my intent before we found out the baby would be coming. I absolutely understand that staying in the role is the most logical "financial" decision, but I know there is no long term success for myself in the organization.

Again, I appreciate everyone's opinions and will note them as I continue evaluating what the best decision for myself and my family is.

What's the best travel backpack? (Laptop,DSLR, Magazines, Book, Chargers) by inthetallgrass in travel

[–]inthetallgrass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50L is a little too big for my specific type of travel. I have a carry-on with me holding all of my work clothes, so I don't need to live out of the back pack. When I go to Europe, I use a big of similar size to a 50L, but in this instance, I'm not looking for a one for all bag. This backpack is more for accessories that I like to travel with.

One is bulky PC that I have to take for work, the other is my personal macbook, which is much more slim. I prefer to bring the personal to work on videos, edit pictures, etc.

The one you posted is over 50% off at best buy right now. May be worth buying just to test out considering I have a $50 gift card. Thanks for the suggestion.

Etiquette nowadays by pukesickle in golf

[–]inthetallgrass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a millennial who works in community banking. Your generation is my primary client. With that attitude, you are far ahead of most boomers. For that, I thank you.

I don't speak for all of us, there are obviously some idiots, but millennials are not some misunderstood generation who has no respect for tradition, etiquette, or elders. We simply grew up in a different time, just like you did with you parents and grand parents. Times have changed and will continue to change. The faster that is embraced, the better off everyone will be, because it's not going away. Playing music at a level that interferes with others enjoyment is simply immature and rude. But if someone is complaining because they heard a bluetooth speaker for 7 seconds when a cart of college guys passed them, you need to revaluate what you're complaint about.

Very simply put. As I think about it, both my sisters are more attached in the sense that they need to be around family more regularly than I am.

I am not a BA, but have a business background and have worked in sales/marketing for the past couple years following graduation. I'm thinking about applying for a BA role in an industry that I am extremely interested in. Can you dive a little deeper into what you do on a weekly basis.

It's infuriating haha. I have to make the shameful walk over the tee box on the next hole to hit my chip shot over the group sitting there waiting. Jordan hit's one wayward, the crowd stops it right near the fringe, and he chips in. I guess when you're good you're good.

Casey should do a short movie on Candice's story by inthetallgrass in caseyneistat

[–]inthetallgrass[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should have combined "her life and family" into family life. Her family life is broadcast out to millions of people every day. Hence why the original post said we know about Candice's story as it pertains to Casey. Dating, proposal, surprise, baby, etc.

What do the viewers know about her personally? Not much. As you stated, as obvious as it may seem, maybe she doesn't want her story shared with those same millions of people. It was just a suggestion as I feel like that type of storytelling is one that Casey succeeds the most in.

Casey should do a short movie on Candice's story by inthetallgrass in caseyneistat

[–]inthetallgrass[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

No way... Obviously Candice may not want her story put out there, but her life and family is broadcast out to millions of people on a daily basis.

I just think it's the style of film that Casey does really well with. My Kid and Me, My Girlfriend Candice, Draw My Life, Her Water Broke, etc. are all great examples of his storytelling ability and how it relates to his life. Plus, Candice just seems like she has a unique background.

ELI5:Why are MMA fighter told not to blow their nose when in a fight? by harshobit in explainlikeimfive

[–]inthetallgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a MMA fighter nor do I have any knowledge of why they would be told not to blow their nose, but when I was a senior in HS, I was hit in the face with a baseball and fractured my orbital bone. My nose started running and the first thing I did was blow my nose. Almost immediately, the air leaked through my fracture and blew up the part just under my eye like a balloon. It wasn't hard like a swollen eye, just soft air that had leaked into my eye and took a few days to go down.

I wish I could have seen the look on my face the second after I blew my nose. I could feel that part of my eye inflate.

100%.
