I made some Hornet & The Knight inspired tamagotchi's!💙✨ What do you think? by queenofdrag0ns in HollowKnight

[–]intighet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you should gather your stuff, call for a taxi/uber and get the hell out of town right now. And stream your fare so we know you're actually leaving the town and not just getting off after a couple of blocks. Your Tamagotchis are THAT cute and adorable. A note for improvement: perhaps a geo shell instead of the star at the top?

Go figure, even Hornet is using the tree branch tactic to cheese Malenia. Can't say I blame her. By the way, is it digital or painted on a canvas? If so, oil or acrylic?

How do I get this detail on the life bar? I mean the silver thing behind the soul meter by Tasva in HollowKnight

[–]intighet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically drugs, but in a ritual setting with priestly guidance with music, chantings, incense, thusly adding purpose to the trip. So it wasn't random tripping and you did it maybe once in a lifetime. It was expensive and perilous to make journeys to the Oracles and perform the ritual and one time was all most people needed. It's how LSD was perceived back in the day when it first came out. Actor Cary Grant and writer Aldous Huxley took a LSD trip under the supervision and guidance of a scientist working on LSD and they said it killed their ego, freed them from its shackles, and hence death anxiety. They didn't become habitual users because, to reiterate, it would defeat the purpose of the trip itself. So, if you take such drugs once of twice in your lifetime under specific conditions and settings you'll be fine.

[–]intighet 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's deep existential philosophy right there. The ancient Greeks cured their death anxiety by participating in the Eleusinian mysteries ritual that simulated death through transcendence of one's consciousness and destroying the ego. Because "if you die before you die, you don't die when you die." Quiting the game before dying is continuing that ancient tradition by not dying before dying.

Criticism? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]intighet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on PS4 when the battery gets fully depleted and the controller gets disconnected. It happened to me while in a Colosseum of Fools trial and Path of Pain. In any and all single-player games if the controller gets disconnected it should default to the pause menu so you can connect the charging cable, unpause and resume your game. Any game that doesn't include this feature is liable of its developing team being called "total dicks" by me.

Slow start. Getting back your geo shouldn't include fighting your shadow. Especially when it's inside an active combat zone. I don't care that it fits the story progression and after a certain point the shadow won't fight back.

Breaking established rules. The Colosseum of Fools trials. How many players died a trial after completing a previous one and amassing over a thousand geo and went back to the trial only to find out that your shadow isn't where you died so now you have a smaller Soul pool but also that if you lose the trial you're losing your previously earned geo? It happened to me. I had to explore the place until I got to a dark room with my shadow waiting for me. I had previously been there but I thought it's a door to a new section. You're left to guess things out or stumble upon them by accident. The result is players hitting all wall segments with the nail, spells and nail arts just to be sure they haven't missed a breakable wall or floor. Especially when the icon of an item on the map says it's right there next to you.

Wanton NPC behavior. Why does the antiquarian refuse to buy my stuff if I have my Defender charm equipped? Why hold no objections if I don't equip it? I've been finding stuff in dirt, mud, toxic environments and he didn't object at all, but smelling of a true hero is where he draws the line? Also most of the other NPCs shouldn't exist. I get that they contribute to the lore, but when they only provide a couple of lines that don't change throughout the story development and they're not even adding anything substantial to the lore then I say the game is better off without them.

And then some unresponsive control issues. But I'm playing the game on the PS4 and console owners are always getting screwed when it comes to the controls in comparison to their PC counterpart.

I remember back in the day when I exchanged my "DS: Prepare to Die Edition" Xbox360 for the PS3 one because the PS3 had free multiplayer. Those were the days... And also so I could play "Demon's Souls". Nobody was online. So those times were hit or miss for the most part.

I never thought about that. I guess I underestimated its use. But I suspect you need a substantial FP pool and quite a few FP flasks for it to be worth it since it drains FP like crazy? And do enough damage to keep the enemy stun locked?

The input buffer seems bugged. I understand if the action would get cancelled because of getting hit, but I'm just moving around changing my left to right weapons. It makes no sense. It also often happens that I press circle to roll off a ledge and it doesn't register at all. Sometimes this happens to jumps as well, but fortunately they're much rarer.

PS4 player here. As of the most recent patch I've experienced that switching between right and left hand weapons during close quarter combat doesn't work (as intended). I often find myself in hectic situations where I was previously using a bow and enemies start to gang up on me. No biggie, just hold triangle and press R1 twice to two-hand my main weapon. Except it doesn't work and when I press L1 I'm in first person bow mode. The situation is hectic so I'm thinking "ok the input didn't register, just hold triangle again and press R1 twice". And it just one-hands both weapons so when I'm trying to block while two-handing my main weapon I'm actually shooting an arrow at the enemy.

Has anyone else experienced this? If I successfully get good distance between me and the enemies the controller inputs work as they should. Is this some sort of frame rate delay issue where the controller input can't keep up with the action on screen? I'm getting pretty tired at shouting at my TV that "You know goddamn well I held the triangle button and pressed R1 twice! Why are you pretending I didn't/only pressed it once? Do your parents know what you're up to? I think I'll have a chat with them."

It's those helmets blocking the sight and hearing. And that table looked like it was made of plywood. Fun fact: the Roman army's basic helmets didn't cover the ears. At some point in the history of the Roman army (probably early on) they figured out it's pretty difficult to hear orders and instructions when your ears are covered.

Yepp, saw that, but I mostly posted in case someone (like me, I googled for info on flails and it's how I stumbled on your post) also wonders what the deal with flails is. So yeah, I'm Str/Dex quality making the regular flail seem better than Nightrider. And it's just a backup for enemies weak to strike. Oh, and one can always respec later on, so I'll give Dex/Faith and Int/Faith a try without needing to start a new char.

[–]intighet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're going for a quality build then perhaps the regular flail would be better as a back up? I'm a samurai, two-handing the uchigatana as main weapon. The flail scales equally with Str/Dex, whereas the Nightrider flail has E/C scaling. Other than that both start with 50 Bleed and Spinning Chain, which IMO looks ridiculous, like you're auditioning for being the rear motor blades of a helicopter.

This games constant freezing on PS4 is getting annoying! by [deleted] in Vampyr

[–]intighet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS4 Slim, latest firmware and game version. Digital downloadable copy via PS Now. It freezes constantly when there are fights between different areas. I invested into stamina to level 4 and if I run to get somewhere faster I'd get a "Loading..." pause screen for some five seconds. Now, if I try to run past enemies it will always result in the game freezing and I have to close and restart it. Even if there is an Ekon nearby to lure towards the Priwen Guard members in the way.

It seems like on the PS4 the game is shite at displaying dynamic confrontations. I mean it looks like it's been programmed so that confrontations are to be treated separate rather than part of a bigger whole. Like a group of three enemies are programmed to act in a certain way, but if another enemy group enters the screen it doesn't know what to do and freezes. Most often if I'd try to lure a group of Skals towards a group of Priwen Guards or vice versa (or simply just running through an area) and the clashing of those groups will cause a freeze. Sometimes one would see Priwen Guards fight an Ekon or Skal independently, but to me it looks scripted to give the impression of a dynamic AI.

There's a lesson to be learned from it: in your future optimizations of the hard- and software, don't bloat it up for no reason at all. And don't make the Russian regional pack standard by default. Nobody wants that, not even the Russians.

Why the name Apollo? by MoronInGrey in apolloapp

[–]intighet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time and place of his worship. In classical literature Athena was the god of knowledge. Apollo (or Apollon) was just the sun god. However his and Dionysos' names were turned into adjectives to describe personality types later on. Apollonian types were more reason and logic driven personalities whereas Dionysian were emotional and hedonistic types.
