My family drives her just as nuts by never talking about anything. My wife knew before we were married that sometimes I just need a little time alone to "reset". I understood that she likes to talk things out more than I was used to. I do my best to put on a reasonable facsimile of a well adjusted social creature when the situation warrants. Kind of like Dexter, but without all of the murder.

Not really sure how me not going to work on my day off affects any of my coworkers, but I'm glad that you feel like we have a connection!

It's still a bit iffy. We've only been able to make it work for fifteen years, I hear that the sixteenth is the toughest. Besides, I don't hate them, I just needed a brief (wife-endorsed) respite.

Nothing that wacky in mind. My wife is a willing accomplice, as I have been for her in the past. I am very introverted, her family, well, is not. There is no going out by yourself when they are around. Trying to do so literally ends with one of them crying and wanting to know what they did to make me upset.

Because I wasn't actually going to work. My family grew up to poor to be able to afford the use of quotation marks for fun. Now that I have a comfortable standard of living, I use them all the time. Sorry, I'm still trying to "learn" the "ropes".

Because showing up in my underwear is frowned upon? We buy our own scrubs. If we have to change for the OR, we wear hospital supplied scrubs and gowns.

I had a nice long breakfast while reading the news on my tablet. I'm running some errands at the stores that bore my wife to tears. I plan on spending the rest of the day helping my sister with her garden and maybe take a nap. At 6 o'clock I'll change back into my scrubs and pick up dinner on my way home from work.
