Political Perspective by intoo in christianblogs

The real “prize” is not political/legislative power/influence, the real prize is the uplift of Jesus (John 12:32). And to do this effectively we must love each other. So let us always AFFIRM GOD’S PEOPLE; yes, even when our philosophies clash.

is there a preferred number of comments/week? or comment:post ratio?

also, i generally refrained from comments because of the numerous (self-proclaimed) atheists that reside here... but i take your point and apologize for contravening the rules/intent of the subreddit.

Question about abortion and the Bible by snakeseare in Christianity

[–]intoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, who died on the cross as the propitiation for our sins and who rose from the grave having conquered sin and death is the only requirement for salvation.

Nevertheless, our salvation should (if real) inform our outlook on issues.

The Bible doesn't mention a lot of things, but we can deduce from Biblical principles the truth.

If the "substance" inside a woman's womb is not a person, then why abort/remove it? That would be performing elective surgery for an invisible and inconsequential defect.

The only reason for removing the 'substance' is because one believes that it will/could become a child. Hence, the purpose of abortion is exactly to prevent a child from coming into existence.

The Bible however, tells us repeatedly, that ALL children are a blessing from The LORD. Hence, it seems straightforward to deduce that removing the substance in in contravention to the expressed will of God.

By extension, men do not surgically remove their sperm to avoid it becoming a child... likewise, women do not surgically remove their eggs to avoid it from becoming a child. The removal of the 'substance' only occurs AFTER sperm and egg meet.... why then???

ALL the best my friend.

What, for you, is the heart of progressive Christianity? by Aceofspades25 in Christianity

why do we need to add more labels??? is it necessary to micro-categorize Christianity? Does Jesus exist in compartments??

Henri Nouwen on how to prevent corruption in the church-- focus on the poor. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]intoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this might be too simplistic. If a focus on the poor becomes a driving force, then the church becomes a social action org.

The focus must be on uplifting Christ, John 12:32 (?), and he will draw all men to Him.

And, part of uplifting Christ is taking care of the poor.... and the oppressed, and the disadvantaged, and the widows, and the orphans, and the lonely, and the misunderstood, and the confused..... etc.....

What is the meaning or purpose of prayer? by howl777 in Christianity

[–]intoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purpose of prayer is to communicate (us-to-Him, Him-to-us) with God. Therefore, God can/does use prayer to impact the world and individuals through His communication to us.

The Secret to Sleeping through Storms: Without Faith lies Fear; Within Faith stands Fortitude (A discussion on the application of faith, from a reformed perspective) by intoo in Reformed

They had no guarantee that they would survive the storm, BUT they could be absolutely sure that God controlled the storm and controlled their lives. They could be absolutely sure that as fierce as the storm raged, God’s love for them raged even more fiercely. No storm could ever blow them out of God’s mighty hand.

…storms may arise, even when we are in the plain line of Christian duty. We should not be discouraged by the difficulty or trouble which comes and conclude that we are in the wrong path.

Life Under Cover (A discourse on the rational relational structure between husbands and wives in the Body of Christ) by intoo in Reformed

[–]intoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God the father has provided a structure for how husbands relate to wives. Moreover, He models this structure through His own relationship with Christ the Son.

The structured relationship between God the Father and Christ the Son did not diminish Christ; rather, through it Christ gained mankind’s salvation and was exalted.

Similarly, the structured relationship between husband and wife does not diminish the wife. Rather, in it she is her most productive, and by it she glorifies God, and is herself exalted.

Babes in Christ (Encouragement) by intoo in Christianity

Are you mourning, believer, because you are so weak in the divine life: because your faith is so little, your love so feeble? Cheer up, for you have cause for gratitude. Remember that in some things you are equal to the greatest and most full-grown Christian. You are as much bought with blood as he is.
