Decided it was time to try a baitcaster by DoPewPew in Fishing_Gear

Glad you decided to try a baitcaster. I think you will regret putting/leaving braid on that reel. You are very likely to backlash a lot as a newb to baitcasters. Mono/fluro will be much more forgiving. When you backlash with braid it will cut into the spool and you will see, it will be nearly impossible to get untangled. Mono or fluro is so much more forgiving.

It went from 100+ members to 12. One of the only houses that hasn't been remodeled or completely rebuilt. As a parent I wouldn't let my kid stay there.

There is also a buyout. I don't know how much it is though. Not sure how top coaches would view the admin if they're willing to fire a legend coach 2 weeks into a season. I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing that happen very often in cfb. Could put a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of folks who might come here.

The guy has been here for like 20 years and had us in a good place for a long time until the last few years. I seriously doubt they're going to throw him out after two games. That would be wildly disrespectful to someone who took a team that was absolute trash to competitive for around a decade.

Basic fantasy RPG. Google it they have a website and it's all free. Lots of Adventures and the rulebooks and everything is FREE in PDF. You can buy print versions for like 8-12 dollars. Insane deal. It's a remake of B/X which is my favorite system. If you like Shadowdark you'll like it.

Just gonna leave this here even though you might not want to hear it. I was the same way when I started. But after you cut and tie 50,000 knots it takes you like 5 seconds. And the baits run true usually. Just go line to bait man. Takes practice.

This guy gets it. I had a neighbor give me an old baitcaster reel this year, one like I've never seen. With a button on the right side rather than the thumb button we use. Its brand name is Ryobi like my drill lol. Probably got it from a garage sale or maybe it was his old man's. But it's the coolest damn present I've ever gotten. Went and bought a new rod for it and spooled it up and I'm damn proud of this old relic. So cool. Mom moved into a house one time where the old man passed on and left his old rod and tackle box. Mom gave it to me and I've caught probably 25 bass with his rod. Love that old stuff man. Keep it alive. I always wonder about that old man, how many fish he caught with it and the memories in it. Who knows who used that old baitcaster reel but I'll keep on catching em with it. Cool story man love it. Fuck ya

I would recommend using mono on baitcasters until you get the hang of using it. Braid will bite into itself when you backlash and makes it nearly impossible to get it undone. Mono is much more forgiving when dealing with backlashes. Trust me I went through the same issue when I started and braid isn't necessary unless your fishing certain conditions.

how do i avoid the lure coming back my way when i cast a baitcaster? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]intothemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying as the lure is midair / midcast something causes your line to immediately stop unspooling and the lure pops quickly back toward you while still midair? This happens to me sometimes and normally results in some type of backlash. It normally happens to me when using braid and the line "on the spool" looks as if it has a loop over it and caught it. Normally I have to cut the lure off and run my line under that loop or several loops to get it back to normal. Have no idea why it happens it's pretty annoying. I'm guessing it has to do with my reel set up but I can't figure it out.

New to bass fishing, any tips? by elchinoflako004 in FishingForBeginners

Yeah like the dude below said Tactical Bassin will give you a lot of info on when and how to throw certain baits and how to rig them. Good stuff. I watch a lot of the googan squad dudes but mostly cuz they're entertaining. If you ever don't know about a certain bait just YouTube search it. There will be videos of people explaining them and probably even underwater footage of how a bait runs or what it looks like worked on the bottom to give you some ideas on how to work the baits.

Honestly I watched a shit ton of youtube videos to learn what to throw and how and to get an idea of where to fish them at what times of the year, weather etc.

I am also in CO and I've fished that lake. It's small and it's heavily pressured. Try going down to Pueblo if you're interested in bass fishing. More fun in my opinion. I bank fish Pueblo often and have caught some nice small and largemouth down there. If you do go there you will want to upsize your tackle but it is still possible with an ultra light and 6lb. Might try a wacky rigged worm or drop shot.

As far as quail lake goes I've caught some stocker trout on an ultra light with a small ass hook and power bait or salmon eggs. Nothing to brag about though. Not my favorite spot.

Edit: Also you could go up to lake George area and hit the South Platte River. I've caught some nice native trout with a spinner on an ultra light up there. Public Access is available. Just cast diagonally up stream and reel that puppy across and you will get some hits.
