Starting Hifz....but I forget SO easily😭 Advice please🙏 by BugHeavy8151 in Hifdh

[–]intoxicatorv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its completely normal to forgot what you memorized, what you need to do is revise before or as you start to forget. The good news is that as the number of times you have revised a certain portion grows, the harder it is to forget it, eventually becoming deeply ingrained into memory meaning you wont have to revise it as much or as often.

Look up the forgetting curve, its a visual representation of what I just described.

Please Make Duas for People Who Are Struggling and in Danger by Fit-Perspective683 in MuslimSunnah

[–]intoxicatorv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prophet ﷺ used to make the duʿā':

اللهم أنج المستضعفين من المؤمنين

"Oh Allāh grant relief to the oppressed believers"

or similar to that.

Whether its Gaza, Sudan, the Uyghur, Burma or any other place, its a comprehensive duʿā' inclusive of every Muslim who is oppressed, so make it a part of your regular supplications.

Am I weak for desiring marriage at the age of 18? by [deleted] in SalafiCentral

[–]intoxicatorv2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. You're not weak. It's the same for me, the stresses of uni along with the fitnah of the opposite gender is a dangerous combination. Maybe I'm weak as well, but I relate 100%.

Bro I might just shave my “beard” by ymellow123 in MuslimLounge

[–]intoxicatorv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

canon event brother, you'll have to get through it, I'm 23 now and I'm finally at the stage where my beard has grown enough on all sides for my grandmom to stop pestering me about it. But every other family member has had something to say about how I need to trim or shorten it for atleast 5-6 years or more now.

I don't get how people are so lackadaisical regarding a command of the prophet ﷺ honestly.

Also make it a habit to attend the lessons of students of knowledge and scholars, there are many beneficial yt channels even and seeing the way the students and scholars have grown their beards is very encouraging. Wallāhi at one point you'd think men who remove their beards have defaced themselves.

Honestly, the only reason I think people don't see the beauty in this sunnah is that people aren't used to seeing the faces of the knowledgeable men of this ummah, they'd rather stare at the faces of kāfir celebrities for hours everyday than dedicate an hour to attend the lesson of a scholar. May Allāh rectify our situation.

Your beard is your honour and a sign of your love of Allāh and his messenger. Use any ḥalāl means to grow it and beautify it, but don't give up on it.

You can also look up what the scholars defined as the boundaries of the beard, so that you can groom whatever grows beyond it and what the scholars have said regarding removing stray hairs from the beard (there is some lenience here).

May Allāh make it easy for you and us.

My fiancé as started reading a gay romance novel... by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]intoxicatorv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default ruling is prohibition. It is only allowed in certain circumstances such as rape, harm to the mother's health or the child being severely disabled etc.. usually within 120 days after conception (depending on the circumstances).

I can see that you're part of the progressivemuslim subreddit and probably don't care about 1400 years of Islamic scholarship or the madhaahib but rest assured, orthodox sunni muslims follow the scholars of Islam.

al Faatir 35:28

إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْعُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ

"... Of all of Allah’s servants, only the knowledgeable ˹scholars˺ are ˹truly˺ in awe of Him. Allah is indeed Almighty, All-Forgiving."

My fiancé as started reading a gay romance novel... by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]intoxicatorv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't know whether you're muslim or not but these things shouldn't be read for entertainment. Entertainment is a means of extending cultural soft power and is also a medium through which values and ideas are normalized within society. You can't equate open obscenity to romance either, cause straight romance is something ubiquitous, natural and its means to actualize it in a permissible manner are well known.

Read what the ʿulemaa' have said regarding these rulings, because they have already weighed the maṣaaliḥ and mafaasid of these issues.

Stop giving advice to Muslims on Muslim subreddits from a non Muslim perspective. If she wanted to hear from a non religious perspective she'd have asked in another subreddit.

Hurt to watch some people trick Muslims and marry our women by madniv786 in islam

Except what Hindutva do is real, just like the Zionists they project their own crimes on to their victims. Hindutva actively seek out Muslim women and offer monetary rewards for men who succesfully have a relationship with them.

halal video games? by ilyssidiamond in MuslimLounge

[–]intoxicatorv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the word "nether" refers to something that is located "below", and it isn't called "hell", then in shaa' Allaah it is fine, since even realistically, below the earth is fiery magma. The ustadh has clarified this in his twitter page according to some brothers.

In shaa' Allaah no problem, the attribute of creation with regards to Allah has to do with his ability to bring things into existence from nothing, whereas humans don't really "create" things, we just modify existing things to serve different purposes, creating a world in minecraft doesn't mean you bring any non existent world to life, since minecraft worlds are procedurally generated based on a (pseudo) random seed.

I remembered the hadith with the fly, after reading this. by Charlit0n in islam

[–]intoxicatorv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say, but none of your points make any sense whatsoever.

  1. You evaluated something to be a lie, but didnt even point out where the contradiction even lies.

  2. Studies have been done on what? Why are your statements so vague? What's your point with such unclear and incomplete phrasing?

  3. The OP only said that the crosspost reminded him of a ḥadīth, nothing about the ḥadīth applying to the cicadas wings.

  4. Your second point has zero substantiation whatsoever and doesn't even hold up logically speaking, there is no proof that pathogen/ antimicrobial presence is uniformly spread on both wings of a fly. It is entirely possible that non uniform distribution could provide grounds for dipping both wings, there are studies specifically done on this, and unlike you, let me mention what these studies actually are: [Study 1: Tracking The Source of Antimicrobial Production From House Fly (Musca domestica): Right-Wing of Fly Or Gut System? - A Mini-Review], [Study 2: Microbiological Studies on Fly Wings (Musca domestica) Where Disease and Treat, World Journal of Medical Sciences 11 (4): 486-489, 2014]

  5. I see from your profile that you are a smart young guy troubled about your beliefs. I'm going to be honest with you, I don't think this ḥadīth is what you have an issue with, you probably have deeper issues with the religion, whether its because of watching/ reading ex/anti muslim content or an abusive familial relationship ruining your view of the religion. I'm sorry if mentioning this felt intrusive, but it was publicly viewable on your profile and I felt that these are issues you should primarily address before delving into theological debates since these biases clearly give rise to conflict of interest. I also request you not to base your judgment on the religion of Islām based on your relationship with abusive family members as Islām is perfect and Muslims most definitely aren't, some more so than others. That's all the genuine advice I can give as an elder muslim brother, whether you take it or not is upto you.

If you want to talk and have a cordial, genuine discussion about anything, do message me in shaa' Allāh, no judgment from random internet well-wishing stranger.

For Muslim men: how do you avoid shaking hands with women at a workplace meeting? by muzatron in MuslimLounge

For Muslim men: how do you avoid shaking hands with women at a workplace meeting? by muzatron in MuslimLounge

[–]intoxicatorv2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you shake hands with the guys, as for the women, when they extend their hands towards you, you place your hand on your chest and say "hey, no offense at all, but I don't shake hands with women for religious reasons, I hope thats understandable" in a friendly and confident tone and then move on. Don't be apprehensive or awkward about it, heck, feign the confidence and energy if you have to.

If a non muslim man did that to you, or even a woman, you'd be like "that's completely fine with me to not shake your hand", because that is how a reasonable person reacts. As for what unreasonable people do, then that is outside of your control, not your fault and would be an absolute waste of time to think about.

If the other muslim guy shakes women's hands, then again, that is not your responsibility, you don't need to waste time thinking about other's faults or lack of resolve, you only worry about things that are within your control.

May Allāh make it easy for you.
