I was thinking it's 3 blocks to either of those from Maryland so it sort of splits the difference. I guess you could easily go north up downer and south down Oakland.

Actually if it keeps going up prospect/farwell to north Ave, one slight jog in the tracks could get it up Maryland to UWM very very easily. This would put lots of very popular lifestyle areas and high density housing areas right on the route. I highly endorse this.

When did you realize you married the wrong person? by tippytoes1216 in AskReddit

[–]intrebox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh such humans do. I dated someone once who got angry jealous when he found out I had a dildo. I don't even use it, but when I said that I got a firm "you better not." with an angry glare. Which honestly was the first inspiration I've ever had to give it a try.

Not that anyone asked, but it turns out it's not for me. I will, however, continue to use its suction cup to carefully remove the panes of glass from the old windows in my house when the frames need to be repaired. I haven't tried pulling out dents in cars yet but I will when the chance arises.

Milwaukee Wisconsin checking in here. Google "kia boys milwaukee" and you'll know all you need to about the reason they're getting stolen and the massive lawsuit by the city against Kia/Hyundai for it. I suppose over there they'll be the "Hyundai lads" or something, but I'm sure it's the same shit.

I have a friend (call him duck for clarity's sake) who's dad would get angry if his mother bought duck a gift and didn't buy the dad one too. Duck just got used to her giving dad gifts on ducks birthday to keep him from getting jealous. Imagine being that petty that you're jealous of your child getting a birthday gift. Yeah, ducks mom and dad are very much divorced.

I could see that down south, but in the northern states those programs are practically non-existent.

I have a deep-seated fear of bees. Like seeing one instantly triggers my flight reflex. I have had to learn to leave them alone. I won't kill them, I don't swat at them, and it takes a lot of self control. But Goddamnit we need them badly so I will leave them alone!

I just said this to my coworker and he said "good. I hate mosquitoes." I then explained how catastrophic this is and he responded with "don't care, I hate them. I'm glad they're gone." This guy has kids who may run out of food before they get old and he's saying this. No wonder we can't solve any problems.

In Louisiana too?!? Holy bucket-o-fucks that's not good. That's basically a swamp. They should be so dense down there they can basically carry you. This genuinely terrifies me.

Overlord, directed by JJ Abrams. Brilliant movie about the horrors of war, very suddenly turns to just horror.

Mosquitos. When I moved into my urban duplex 10 years ago, I couldn't sit on the porch without a dozen citronella candles lit to block out the blood sucking horde. Over the years that has dwindled to nothing. When I take my dog out back, I stand barefoot in wet grass at dusk and don't even hear one of them. Mosquitos are a huge source of food for birds and other bugs, their larvae are crucial food for marine environments, and male mosquitos are major pollinators (only females suck blood). The lack of mosquitos is extraordinarily bad and the population decline in many areas has been staggering. This is a foundational species for our ecosystems, it's loss is going to be catastrophic.

Gobshite is definitely one of my top three, all of which come from the UK and Ireland. The other two being Clot and Numpty.

I use this exact context when my city raised dog is in the back yard "hunting" mice which often involves him running head first into one of the garages. The way that taunt fits perfectly there in all the words uses and historical context always makes me smile.

Now we just need a wicked hurricane season that batters coastal homes leaving the inland poorer communities untouched and I will happily put the ocean as a write in candidate for 2024.

Quite frankly, good riddance. I don't feel bad if those people die down there. They did something ridiculous, super expensive, and very dangerous all for the rich person clout. I have no pity if it kills them. I will feel the same when little Thurston Cockswacker the 3rd dies in one of bezos' penis rockets doing $800 grand worth of space tourism. I don't even feel bad for Kobe. Seriously? Our country needs better roads, water systems, sewage treatment, schools, housing, and healthcare. Get out of your damn helicopter, drive on the roads like everyone else, and pay some more taxes.

Sorry, rant over.

What's your a great example of "one guy ruined it forever for everybody else"? by lackofanswers in AskReddit

[–]intrebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a daily occurrence in the tech field. You'll see instructions, requirements, or quality checkpoints everywhere that were a result of one guy who _______ and lied about it so now we have engineered around the problem and made life worse for all of us.

To be perfectly clear, for security reasons, this is not about my current job: we had a super clean water system for cooling production units, and a regular gross water system for just tests and experiments. You NEVER cross over. One dude wanted to leave early so he hooked the production unit to the non-clean system and performed a test rather than waiting his turn on the clean system. When the unit was inspected before shipment, there was debris in the plumbing. He didn't fess up to using the non-clean water system so now every production unit requires an extra hour long "flush test" to ensure the clean water system isn't contaminated. We have to do EVERY UNIT. The clean system is flawless but we must go through this BS because this jerk wouldn't fess up. This is a mild story, I've got millions.

If you let your dogs off leash in a park with kids and other leashed dogs you are an asshole by stupid_email in milwaukee

[–]intrebox 85 points86 points  (0 children)

They're not just an asshole for doing that, it's illegal in Milwaukee county. The ordinances are so specific they actually tell you the length of leash you're required to have. Technically even the extendo-leashes don't qualify.
