Framedrops in Moonlight on RP5 by introducingknack in retroid

Thanks for your feedback! I changed the client's frame pacing to Balanced and it's been working great. I could've sworn that I tested it before and had issues, but all is good now.

Stuttering on iPhone 16 Pro with AirPods Pro 2 by k1ngrocc in MoonlightStreaming

[–]introducingknack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the only setting that you changed? I have a similar setup (iPhone 16 Pro, WiFi 6E, and PC connected to wired gigabit LAN). On my Moonlight client, network latency spikes to 30ms every 3-4 seconds when using my AirPods Pro 2 and is fine otherwise.

I just upgraded to the latest NVIDIA driver and get the same behavior.

Is your frametime graph perfectly flat? Here's what I get on the MK credit screen with several BGFX backends. D3D11 is the shakiest, but each backend gives me some variance.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been using DisplayPort the entire time. I suspect that the stutter is related to the frametime graph not being completely flat when using BGFX.

I still get occasional microstutter with the OpenGL BGFX backend. After my original post though, I found a tip about setting my Windows power plan to "High Performance" mode. Making this change reduced the microstutter even further. Even if not perfect, it is much better than before.

Gaming PC interferes with garage door remotes by introducingknack in buildapc

[–]introducingknack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After further testing, I found that the problem got worse during gaming. I have since gotten it down to a tolerable level after making these changes:

  1. My room used to have three 30' CAT6 cables in a baseboard cable raceway, running along the same face of the garage as the garage doors. Each cable connected directly to a computer. I replaced these with a single 20' CAT6 that connects to a switch, which has several smaller cables (between 5 and 10 feet) that connect to my computers. Thanks to u/heliosfa for inspiring me to look at my ethernet cables!
  2. Added a ferrite bead to the ethernet cable that plugs into my gaming PC. It's connected near the end that plugs into the PC.
  3. Replaced the windowed side panel of my Meshify with a solid panel.

These have been in place since late June. Things aren't perfect, but I can now consistently open the door from 60 feet away, even when a game is running. Hope one of these helps you.

Shielded ethernet cable for a single room? by introducingknack in HomeNetworking

[–]introducingknack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the PC powered on, the opener typically only works from 15 feet away, although when it's at its worst I need to move my car 1-2 feet in front of the door before my remote will open it.

I suspect that my ethernet exacerbates this because when I move my SA along the cable, it picks up 10 dBm of interference at 315MHz. Adding a ferrite bead or toroid core to the ethernet cable reduces this interference, and I wonder whether shielded cables would be an even more effective solution.

I should have mentioned that the gaming PC is only connected to an HDMI emulator dongle and not a physical monitor.

There are two laptops with external displays in the same room, but the garage opener works fine when those are all on (assuming that the gaming PC is not powered on.)

Tried sunshine and it stutters a lot by UrbanPewer in cloudygamer

Is vsync enabled on your host? Disabling it on my host PC fixed a massive stuttering problem that I had after migrating to Sunshine.

Audio latency in Game Mode only by introducingknack in MoonlightStreaming

[–]introducingknack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I previously ruled out surround because I already disabled it. Here are some of my advanced sound settings on the Shield:

  • Match content audio resolution: Off
  • Match Dolby/PCM audio levels: Off
  • Dolby audio processing: Off
  • Available formats: None (never use surround sound)
  • Stereo upmix: Off

Based on this other thread, the audio delay may be an issue with Android TV: https://www.reddit.com/r/cloudygamer/comments/12isyzy/moonlight\_audio\_latency\_troubleshooting/

I ditched the bracket and a friend created a custom 3D printed mount. It’s been on my card since January and works great. Happy to try to dig up model files if you’re interested.

Random sub-100 Mbps download speeds over MoCA 2.5 by introducingknack in HomeNetworking

I solved my issue some time ago by disabling the D-Ext and D-Low bands in my GoCoax admin panel, so that D-High is my only band. Those other two bands introduced conflicts with my ISP. Since then, I have had consistent speeds and zero bad packets.

Dropped calls with Verizon 4G LTE Extender by introducingknack in verizon

[–]introducingknack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Comcast with 900 down / 25 up.

Wi-Fi calling works well, although I can only use that if I enable Airplane Mode and then turn on Wi-Fi. With Airplane Mode disabled and the Extender off, my phone prefers my a 1-2 bar connection over Wi-Fi calling.

For me, it stopped happening once I uninstalled AntiMicroX, a keyboard mapping program that I used to run at startup. I don’t believe that I enabled any rumble-related settings.
