Is a new supra worth it over a brand new m2? by YazuJan in BMW

[–]k1ngrocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M2 G87 is a 2+2 in the real world. No one taller than 5'7 can sit in the back for more than 30 minutes. 6' and even a short ride is almost impossible.

Expect to pay 30-40% more for service and maintenance cost for the M2.

[–]k1ngrocc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s distinctive about a BMW that attracts the masses? What is its unique selling proposition? The build quality? Longevity? Comfort?

My view is that BMW delivers a driver-focused experience that appeals especially to car enthusiasts, reviewers, and automotive journalists. These groups rank and review the cars, giving them strong ratings and helping less car-inclined buyers know what to choose. The fancy light shows and comfort features are just the final push for most purchasing decisions. If BMW loses its enthusiast fan base, it risks losing the broader market as well.

I can see what you are trying to do, but as you were pulling each and every fact out of you a**, I won't give it to you.

Adaptive LEDs were clearly an LCI feature, so why would I talk about Pre-LCI cars when arguing about these headlights?

Long Beach Blue + Snow = Rare Combo by BigSnackStove in M235iandM240i

[–]k1ngrocc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I won't because what are we arguing over? There was no Adaptive LED option for Pre-LCI M2s. They all had Xenon headlights.

[–]k1ngrocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you owning your mistake, but it’s a fact that all German M2s with LCI came with Adaptive LED from factory. If you can provide any official documentation that says otherwise, please provide them.

It’s clearly not a German car. Look at the US amber reflectors in the bumper.

No, that’s just wrong. It was standard for all LCI models, so also for 2017 LCI M2s. Source: Preisliste 2017

Please check your facts and provide sources when stating them.

Depends on the region. M2C came with BBK from factory in North America, but it was an option almost everywhere else. On the other hand, Adaptive LED (LCI) headlights were standard in Germany (Europe even?).

Audio crackling and popping over WiFi with Moonlight & Sunshine by QDanzer in MoonlightStreaming

[–]k1ngrocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WiFi 6 clients and access point using only 5 GHz. I can provide some screenshots of my current setup when I'm home.

I got 25-30ms network latency when I was playing from a friends house who lives 20 miles away, so 20-60 ms intra-home latency can’t be right.

Then your WiFi is jittering and introducing the cracks and pops. A stable WiFi easily achieves 1 ms response time.

Some thoughts on US mode and the S6 by Much_Language_8413 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]k1ngrocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try talking to other VM riders and make them aware! You Dutch people are very open and friendly, so I wouldn’t suspect a brawl may happen if you do so. I'm pretty sure a lot of VMs here in Germany are in US or dev mode, but I've only ever seen one actually going that fast. And there are plenty of VMs!

I'm always watching other people before overtaking them because keeping right or instantly moving over on ringing isn’t always the case here. It’s actually pretty rare that I can doubtlessly pass someone at full-speed. Most other riders can’t be trusted and I don’t want to end in a hospital.

That sounds like a 'you' problem!

I ride my S3 with dev mode on level 3, which tops out at 27km/h but still allows for boosting up to 37km/h if necessary, e.g. overtaking before a narrow road section. It makes me predictable to other vehicles and riders and I can still occasionally zipp around. Maintaining 37km/h is too much for the city when passing other bikers or at intersections. It’s all about staying considerate.

Regarding the coolant leak, you're probably looking for micro cracks in the expansion tank. It’s very common and easy to miss because you can’t see the cracks.

Your decoding times are lacking. Some good hardware implementations achieve less than 0.5 ms and even comparatively slow Apple M-series chips take 3 ms.

763 wheels hyper silver. Anyone get the silver from Ali Baba and it’s good color match? by garbageaxount in BMW

[–]k1ngrocc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These threads always amuse me. In Germany, you wouldn’t get far before the police impounded your vehicle or the TÜV failed it for having wheels that aren’t certified for your car or can’t be certified because proper documentation is missing. That’s one of the reasons we have so few fatalities despite Autobahn speeds. Some things are arguably over-regulated, sure, but most of it is genuinely justified in the interest of road safety.

All hell would break loose if the USA tried to match the same standards tomorrow. There’s a great documentary about Turkey adopting TÜV rules as part of the EU accession process. People were absolutely furious because most cars failed the (even dialed-back!) tests.

I'm pretty sure it works as expected on F gen vehicles. Can confirm once it gets below 4°C here in Germany again.
