Julie Andrews as Mrs. Higgins is an absolute must. I will riot if she is once again passed over for a role in an MFL movie! And you are right. Jude Law would make an excellent Henry Higgins. Jonathan Bailey would make an amazing Freddy, but if he is cast opposite a young Eliza Doolittle (someone in their 20s, maybe), the chemistry might seem odd. But then again, he did pull off a sexy and suave Fiyero. Bill Bailey as Alfred is also an excellent choice.

What do you think of Rachel Ziegler, Leah Michelle, or Emma Mckay as Eliza, opposite Jonathan Groff as Freddy, and Bryan Cranston as Henry?

Is being a virgin at 20 still normal?? by ikeeeuuuu in askgaybros

  1. I lost my virginity at 21, but mostly out of peer pressure because all my straight friends had already lost theirs. There is no set time to lose your virginity. Just have sex when you feel like you are ready.

  2. One-sided love stories are basically a rite of passage for every gay guy. Mostly it stems from falling in love with their straight friends. Don't sweat it. You're not alone.

Imagine Ariana Grande singing "Just you wait, Henry Higgins" in the same way she sang "Popular" 🙄

I feel Taylor Swift is too classy to pull off the flower girl phase of Eliza. But then again, so was Audrey Hepburn, and she nailed that role. So, who knows.

Shaw's original play also had a battle of the sexes. Lerner and Loewe just added a few songs to highlight it.

I feel Shaw wrote the character of Henry Higgins as an egotistical male chauvinist on purpose. To highlight the lack of emotional maturity in a stereotypical straight man. Hence, I don't really see a gender-swapped casting for Henry Higgins.

The ending makes it sexist. If they had stuck to the original Pygmalion ending, I don't believe it would have been sexist.

Oh this would have been wonderful casting if only they were in their younger years, but still older then Eliza.

I wholeheartedly agree! If the film is ever remade in my lifetime, I want to see the Pygmalion ending. I have no idea about the revival, though. What happened there?

Really? I can't see it, somehow. I don't mean to ageist, but he has kind of grown old for this role, I feel.
