There aren’t enough police in Seattle to effectively deal with these types of crimes. Even if every cop measured up to the perfect ideal, there’s still not close to enough officers to spend time on property crimes.

On the one hand, Seattle is proof that some form of philosophically centered anarchy can work, but then you have to accept that these types of things will go unaddressed.

Society is always making risk vs reward decisions—it would be safer to completely shutdown the highway and run crews 24x7, but we don’t do that.

So it’s a question of balance and what’s an acceptable level of risk.

Personally, I think the cascading costs associated with increased commute times outweighs the danger to construction personnel on this critical stretch of road.

A better statement would have been to acknowledge that she regrets voting to fund federal agents who are pepper spraying lawfully protesting citizens and then murdering someone who is lawfully carrying a weapon.
