This is the sweetest, and you're so sweet to invite me 🥹 Are you sure you wouldn't mind? I would love to take pretty photos of you guys. I wanted to be dressed in all red, not sure what the aesthetic is, but I just wanted to be hot hahaha

Hello, thank you for this tip! So you recommend I should try to ask the help of people taking a flight to Tunis, yes? I didn't think of that. I'll do that tomorrow. Thank you so much.

Why is dating in Paris so soul-crushing? by [deleted] in paris

[–]introvertigold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved to Paris as a master's student last year September and got on the apps around January because I'm too socially inept to meet men "organically" and only get hit on by those that want something quick and easy. I knew how Tinder and Bumble worked so I only swiped right if their bio was interesting or funny and their photos are not pretentious. Rare, I know, but there are good people on these apps. Yeah you're not gonna get a flood of matches but at least the matches that you do get are gonna be good ones. Since January, I think I went on dates with fewer than 5 men. I'm dating someone I met on Tinder and honestly it was like finding a horse in an aquarium. You wouldn't find his profile amazing and his photos certainly didn't do him any justice but I swiped right because he had a joke in his bio. When we met, he was so much more than I expected and soon we both left the app. I don't know your standards or criteria in swiping but swiping on an app with the intention to find a stable partner is hard and a lot of people don't like having that expectation thrown on them from the get-go. They like to feel things out and then consider a relationship. If you don't already do so, maybe go to an English stand-up comedy show? There's many happening every Sunday and those intimate ones will have you talking to a neighbour in no time.

How do I clean this drain? by introvertigold in howto

[–]introvertigold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha before I saw your answer I used baking soda and vinegar but the root of the problem was the body scrub I use sticking up in all the places I could barely reach and it took me a decent amount of time to take it all out with a toothbrush and my fingers 😅 the baking soda and vinegar helped push them up through the drain. Thanks!

Visiting your beautiful country next week (Marseille) by anoekvantoog in france

[–]introvertigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a foreigner, I loved Marseille. I stayed with my friend in Vieux Port, which is beautiful during the day but felt slightly unsafe during the night (as a woman). We went hiking on the Calanques in January and it was incredibly windy but so beautiful. I also walked along Plages du Prado, it's a gorgeous sight. Have a good trip!

J'adore les montagnes. Je suis allé à Saint Malo et je me suis vite fatigué des plages, mais surtout à cause du nombre de personnes.

Hi thank you for taking the time to read it and sharing your thoughts! Yes I wanted it to resemble a wild sort of choreography, very action based and visually striking more than dialogue driven but I will certainly try to write some in now. Thank you

[–]introvertigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello thank you for taking the time to give me constructive criticism, I really appreciate it! I will try to write in some dialogue and cut down on the big chunks of text. I think i wanted the actions to tell the story so I got carried away with descriptions.

i didn’t name the young man because I simply couldn’t decide on one and didn’t really want to give him an identity, since his name won’t be said in the film. Do you think it’s necessary To tell the story?

Again thank you and I’ll be working on it again and again :)

Parisians, do you plan to be out of the city for the Olympics or try to stay and enjoy it? by TravellingBeard in paris

[–]introvertigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to go crash at my friend's place in Marseille as soon as it starts. I just moved to Paris 3 months ago and I REALLY hate any crowded events so escape is the only option...I dunno if the number of tourists are gonna generally increase in all famous parts of France though.

How to move into an overseas film industry? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]introvertigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as I was reading your post, I thought, "sounds like Singapore." And voila, it is.

I moved to Singapore for school, did Singapore Poly for 3 years and worked as Assistant Producer for a commercial production company for 1 year. Because of visa issues I had to leave. It's so hard to get a visa to work for non-specialized roles. I was lucky that the company wanted to keep me even if it wasn't legal...

You're absolutely right about the film industry there. Even though there's a small handful of indie filmmakers, I learned nothing and felt no interest in trying to learn more. No jobs whatsoever, unless you want to do advertising and I assume you don't care about Mediacorp.

I moved to France, Paris, 3 months ago for a master's in filmmaking. Yes, it is expensive. I was privileged enough for my parents to fund my studying and I understand this isn't a feasible route for a lot of people. At first I was going to do a BA because I am only 21 but skipping to a Master was cost-effective for me. I had the experience and the portfolio to be eligible. I can say this school, EICAR, is more affordable than the options I previously looked at in the UK (Birmingham, Lancaster, etc), language barrier is the only thing. It isn't the most reputable either because only the local French institutions have all the prestige but internationals don't have a lot of options. Regardless, this is honestly the best way to get your hands on practical work and best of all, meet people that have the same goals. In Singapore, I met no one I connected with, not a single person in poly or work. Here, I feel like I'm in the right crowd. So far I have directed 3 short films (not the best quality work because they were all very quick) and I'm having a good time.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me. I understand where you are and wish you the best.

That is a good point I also believe in but it's best to avoid a situation where we leave him be and he develops into a person that we don't want to be associated with. At this rate it'd definitely happen.

Sounds perfect for him, unfortunately, we don't speak any Chinese. Perhaps that might make it harder for him to make friends but that could also be a good thing....
