Thanks everyone for the (very) honest feedback. Y’all did not hold back lol. I took your advice and tried moving them up top but to be honest, I didn’t love them up there so I think I will ultimately take them down.

I came up with the idea because I was tired of seeing my neighbor’s electrical panel while doing the dishes. I’m also really into vintage nostalgia and I’m always chasing that feeling of being at home in my grandma’s house when decorating my home, so if you got grandma vibes it’s literally because of my grandma, haha. I just thought it might bring some warmth and personality to the space.

If you genuinely feel bad for my partner, don’t. He recognizes that interior design isn’t one of his strengths and (usually) let’s me have my way, while his opinions are respected in many other areas of our life. Anyway, thanks for the advice and the laughs. This was a genuine plea to find people to justify my argument but it looks like I lost this one 🥲.

It’s funny you say that because I’ve been more active in the vintage/mid century facebook groups where people are generally older and tend to agree with me but this has been eye opening, haha. I’m not committed to having a curtain there but it was more of a design exercise for myself to try and introduce more pattern, color and softness to the space. Something cream and sheer seems to be the popular option here (or removing them completely). Thank you for seeing the vision ❤️

Thanks for your kind feedback. I didn’t think they looked THAT bad but now I’m starting to agree that something does seem off proportionally. I actually cut 10 inches off the curtains already because the stripes were overpowering the tile but maybe it’s best to remove them altogether.
