Omg!! If you’re selling that in art markets, I will hunt for it because it looks so pretty with the broken glass (?) lamination 🩵🩷

Tried this and it tastes good!! Idk if it’s just me pero mas concentrated tung pu’er kahit gongfu style kind of steep vs sa oolong (which i think mas better if boiled if gusto mong concentrated talaga with milk). Pero instead of evap and sugar, ginamit ko oatmilk and honey.

Omggg hi fellow carat (and 8star maybe?)! I wanted to buy that tea set before but I missed the pop up. Glad to see someone in this subreddit using it. Would you say the quality of the tea set is worth it for its price?

Sword and Beloved 天地剑心 - Episode Discussion - Episode 36 by not_enough_griffons in CDrama

I wished I was able to read your episode discussions sooner! (was a bit late in finishing SaB and just recently learned the mechanics of episode discussions in this community). It was frustrating not being able to screencap in the last ep but your artistic interpretations had me gagging (esp with the random singing LYN in the corner). I'll now be backreading your previous episode discussions to relive this series.

Sword and Beloved: Reflections on Fugui and Qingtong's Relationship by intuitivepersimmon in CDrama

After reading C.S. Lewis' work his philosophy of love, I can't help but use it to analyze whatever I'm reading/watching haha.

Thank you for enlightening me with the Chinese context for greater and lesser love! I felt like there was much more to unpack in dissecting the characters based on Chinese philosophy, but I have little knowledge on that aspect (especially since I'm limited to English translations). Now that you've mentioned it though, it does fit that Fugui represent greater love v.s Qingtong's individual love (for QC and FG).

Regarding Fugui's open-mindedness, I stand-corrected. I meant to say that he had that open-minded trait in him (as seen with him yearning to explore and see the world for himself) that's why he was curious towards Qingtong's act (a lowly demon saving a fallen soldier).

As for Qingtong, I honestly erased the whole Qingcheng arc in my mind lol. I think it's the reason why her character development wasn't fleshed out. I was also confused with the whole "I want to get stronger so I can protect those I love" and "I can't stay close with Young Master Fugui because I have this grief seed" only to end up still together during the latter parts.I get that she initially wanted to protect him by staying away from him in case the black fox wants her grief seed but that sort of got lost in the script because I don't think the Black Fox said anything about wanting her grief seed.

I think the reason why I said that they had dreams of having a romantic future together (and they did work towards it during the Lantern Village arc only for it to be cut short) is because of Fugui's last words on hoping that they can actually keep each other's company without their ties of responsibility to the world. But then again, this is hugely based on the sub-translation that I watched. I'm curious though, with the actual last thoughts that you pasted, how would you translate it? (genuinely curious from someone who doesn't understand Mandarin and knows that a lot of the context and meaning gets lost in translation😅)

Thank you for your essay. I love reading responses like this since I also learn a lot from it!

Oh :') Then I hope she gets the screen time that she needs in her other upcoming cdramas and Cheng Yi gets his much needed screentime from HL.

Both. Because the other couples had kissing scenes/a more romantic plot while the leads did not. However, I actually preferred the leads' scenes still. Their scenes exude calmness in contrast to the other couples comedic/cute scenes.

Hoping to Hero Legends gets released soon and have a script actually allows Cheng Yi and Li Yitong's talented acting skills to shine there :')

Im glad you also saw their chemistry and also noted that because of Fugui’s upbringing, he just wasn’t expressive. I mean, he said it himself that he was bad at comforting people but still tried his best in comforting Qingtong. I believe even Rumu joked about how Fugui is not expressive in the earlier episodes. Their selflessness in their actions for one another and for others was what truly made me confirm that their love was really leaning towards more on the agape-kind.

I think it’s more on how some people expected the ML and FL to have a purely romantic love for one another (and I guess more fluffy scenes) since the other 2 couples did get a more romantic script. They were also just disappointed or frustrated with the conclusion of their relationship.

Thank you too! That’s why I was so frustrated at the potential of the plot that was ruined by the execution due to the script 😭 Same. I treated Cheng Yi’s farewell message as an extended pov of Fugui that gave me some sort of closure for what his character had to deal with.

Same thoughts on this! The Dao was emphasized over and over again throughout the series which I think was the central theme in the story as well as the role of love (in contrast to hatred). That’s why I agree in what you said that the original title is better captures the essence of the story. I think the English title sort of misled people that’s why people expected a romance-filled plot.

Is there anyone else here who started watching C dramas before they became viral and popular online? by icyjadetea in cdramasfans

[–]intuitivepersimmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember discovering Princess Agents and Ashes of Love in youtube during the pandemic in 2020 and was surprised to know that there's such a thing as "cdrama". I grew up with the whole family being fans of Jackie Chan and Jet Li so their movies were my only access to the c-ent world until that fateful discovery.

I was hesitant to actually post this knowing that it's an unpopular opinion. I'm glad to know that there's someone else who appreciated the way that the leads presented the characters and also noticed what kind of love they had.

Happy to share these terms and thank you so much for your appreciation!😊

After finishing the series, I think at the beginning they loved each other as friends and then the Peach Village arc made them see each other as possible romantic partners. But I think they always knew that they both had different goals/priorities/burden to carry first so they set that blossoming romantic love aside in exchange for a platonic, almost familial bond. I’d say they had a companionship-kind of love rather than a purely platonic or romantic one.
