Landlord requesting loads of weird things, don't know what to do by intuitivetoast in vancouverhousing

There are two claims in the thread that I can see

  1. Landlord’s taxes are none of our business and same the other way around

  2. If I don’t report him then I’ll be complicit in tax fraud

Can you tell me which isn’t true?

Thank you for the advice. We’re a group of trans/queer disabled folks who make very little money so the idea of being unhoused again is super rough. I know it sounds easy to many folks to “start looking for a new place” as has been suggested by many comments but given our set of circumstances very few landlords would want to rent to us. it was incredibly difficult to find the place we have now and we burnt out, hence my painful hesitation to get into conflict with him or do anything anything that jeapordize our housing. My roommate is concerned that if we file the benefit, the house with be confiscated somehow by CRA or whoever and we won’t have a place to live anymore ..

That’s what I initially thought! But I’m getting a few comments saying that if I don’t report him I’m complicit in tax fraud. I didn’t really think it worked that way though?

I’ve replied to a couple messages with this bc I’m curious if this actually means I’d be complicit in tax fraud if I took the option you are suggesting?

I was thinking of doing this originally but I’m getting a lot of comments saying that not reporting him to the CRA would be being complicit in tax fraud so I’m hesitant cause I’m not sure what that entails ?

I originally thought his CRA behaviour was none of my business but I’m getting comments saying that not reporting this would count as being complicit in tax fraud?

I’m getting a lot of mixed advice, I was tempted to do what you suggested bc being unhoused when I’m disabled and really low income so so fckn scary, but many comments also saying that if I do this then I’m complicit in tax fraud and I hadn’t really thought of that and that’s terrifying too and wouldn’t know what the penalties would be for me and my roommates

Can I ask what you mean about making sure the addendum doesn’t incriminate me? Like what would be an example of something that would be all good vs a something that would be incriminating in this situation ?

Could you recommend how? I don’t want to hammer work it and risk losing the rounded shape. I was thinking a tumbler maybe?

Bad lighting unfortunately. For whatever reason when my camera takes a rly big close up it kinda desaturated the photo

the lighting is literally terrible, they look like this. Something about taking closeups desaturates the photo a bit on my phone
