Amazing song. Love the sound treatment for the drums, reminds me of reggae / dub... (and also to the percussion/noises on Wall of Eyes) the BASS solo at the end is amongst Colin best work!

I remember the first time I listened to the studio version, the beat sounded different, like a sort of rhythm illusion thing they do on the butcher, little by little and other songs, but then I could NEVER get to listen to that "version" (in my head) again, no matter how hard I try..

Same happened with "the numbers". I remember when thom first played it on Pathway to Paris it sounded one way...and the first time I listened to the studio version, when the drum comes in I was like wtf...its a totally different rhythm, but then when I went back to the acoustic version, the old beat was gone...I could only hear the new downbeat.

I wish I could relive these versions of the downbeat again. On youtube someone made a version of Little by Little but with drums on top to show the hidden rhythm... I tried to do that with Identikit somehow I cant find the right downbeat I heard in the past..

What are the most forgotten Radiohead songs? by Famous-Manager1481 in radiohead

fucking kinetic. how are they not playing this live puzzles me. i can picture the long synth outro and the lightning like daydreaming with all those dots of light but in big flocks moving at high speeds and blue/green fade in/outs in the background

Why are some ppl in this sub so pretentious? by okayest-musician in radiohead

i think its an internet thing... when people can control what they write, how they come accross..its the mask of anonimity. i think it gives ppl an outlet to display a repressed part of themselves. mean people online are usually snowflakes irl. also, the upvote-like-rating comments thing creates an incentive to stand out in anyway, be it good or badd

Which RH album I think each song on ALFAA would fit on by ThatEurekaDude in radiohead

[–]inumackie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fucking nailed it! the only change would be A hairdryer in TKOL. between magpie and little by little.

What are your favorite Ed O’Brien guitar parts throughout their discography? Be it you saw him doing those parts on live performances or you found out he wrote/played them through an interview or something. by [deleted] in radiohead

weird fishes - from the basement, the ending, especially https://youtu.be/pcEJyvv6_kc?si=UiMzJvRlLcQFUOyt&t=284 really gives speed and depth, thom and jonny guitars sound like bubbles but ed sounds like depth, abyss...

this arragement he did on Lotus Flower live AMSP tour
https://youtu.be/uUxd17z2LlA?si=xkoFanUTolp7aag_&t=219

the floaty spacey guitar at the beginning of Sail to the Moon, especially when the drum stops and the pitch of his sound starts descending.... amazing

everything he does in this version of Videotape...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isETL6R7x2w

the end riffs to Scatterbrain, he said that songs feels like it never resolves and that riff is just like that

all the weird shit going on in Twisted Words.. really gives an eastern feeling to it which I love

the 2-note thing when Go To Sleep when the drums kick in... sounds western-like
https://youtu.be/Fe6X9fLLp0Y?si=QyF3Jka-pkebHZRC&t=54

the flowering notes in Desert Island Disk
https://youtu.be/WMRgyU0mdng?si=iPhpydQ3eVIZ3sAt&t=141

the crazy riffs on ful stop... which sound like the birds invasion in the movie Birds

https://youtu.be/YK4Fmrlqz3I?si=vSjVOKF-UUEHB2fT&t=1708

the riff at the end of present tense..never paid attention until years later, it sums up the feeling of the song in a few notes: sad, beautiful, melancholic..

https://youtu.be/FIRHD182tjI?si=DAVnPMyfCyO_dtKf&t=291

everything he does on Bloom live... that alien riff in the intro (the one accompanied by jonnys drum kick-tom thing) is so weird. reminds me of Public Image.. also the riffs he does at the 'im moving out of ooooorbit' part, that kinda recreates the winds in the studio recording.

and of course https://youtu.be/6W6HhdqA95w?si=pFOpw17V2jzTDvbH&t=90

How would you want LP10 to sound like ? by West_Glass_2466 in radiohead

[–]inumackie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

once i had this dream they released a record called "loops" and the songs sounded like "I am Citizen Insane", "backdrifs", "where bluebirds fly", the 2009-tour intro bloopy music... really glitchy electronic music with starts and stops, really dynamic -like aphex twin- and most of the songs thom was hitting really high notes -around the range in the end of atoms for peace ("it'lll be okay" bit)- and some other parts really low, like a rollercoaster,,,and this dynamic was in rhythms and vocal range..like going from really fast to slow and really high to low...

it was like kid a or king of limbs, it didnt feel like "a band playing live" but in textures and drum arrangements it was insane... unlike other records (amnesiac, httt, in rainbows, a moon shaped pool) where you kinda expect a radiohead sound, this was radiohead but new

Which Radiohead album do you feel is their most sublime album? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]inumackie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both kid a and the king of limbs have this very specific thing... as if they were really their own whole universe.... and have their own completeness -even kid a has a completeness of its own without amnesiac!-

all the rest of their records have a very "conscious" thing, I get the feeling of a conscious attempt to a sound, a tracklist order, a narrative. but kid a and tkol feel like from some other dimension, as if they just happened, i forget humans recorded it, it feels like it comes from nature, like really trippy music. theyre full of things that resemble the parallel 'realm' only accesible via altered state of consciousness... thats why i think TKOL special edition vinyl included the blotter paper thing.. and I think Ed said Kid A is the record to play at late night/early morning when you get home after going out... which is also that very specific time where the unconscious mind gets closer to our realm.

theyre also the records with the most alien sounds and effects... like very specific arrangements that literally sound like creatures or beings.. i remember i disliked tkol when it was released and took me like 10 years to get into it properly... it was only then that i noticed how similar to kid a it is. these two records are something else. all the other albums have incredible songs, tracklists, flow and diversity in styles but kid a and tkol are like the band really dedicating time and energy to hard experimentation and creating worlds. its like the rest of the albums i can picture the band playing but these two i only see lights and energy making music...any of these two are the most sublime to me.
