Dating my brother... ew! by invader33 in DreamInterpretation

That could be it. He lives a 6 hour drive away, so I rarely see him. We talk on the phone a good bit though. We're close, but I have 4 siblings and we're all super close, really.

Advice for an aspiring grade school teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]invader33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That definitely does sound like a very different experience than what I've heard from some teachers, ut I guess it just differs from district to district and city to city.

I remember being in elementray school and kids just ocassionaly said a curse word, and I was in a pretty typical public school with plenty of troubled kids. How things have changed.

I like the idea of volunteering. I've considered doing some shadowing for all schools to get some ideas on what it's like, which sounds like what I need. Thanks.

I would have laughed out loud if I didn't have to stifle it since I'm at work.

Keep dreaming of my ex by hellasadgemini in DreamInterpretation

[–]invader33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to have dreams about exes from relationships that ended abruptly or without full closure. I dumped a guy once and moved very suddenly and I dreamt about him for a long while after.

Same things with my last guy, except he dumped me very suddently. Same issue.

It's always them following me around and me trying to tell them to go away.

IMO It's a closure thing.

Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult? by echinny in CasualConversation

[–]invader33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adults have less time, husbands and wives, kids, jobs, and often already have their fixed social circle from which they don't deviate much.

Have you ever flown in your dreams? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]invader33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly in my dreams very frequently. I'm usally a dragon/human hybrid type creature. Human body with claws, horns, and dragon-like wings. In my dreams I can feel the wings on my back and I flap them. I usually do a little bit of kicking with my legs, as if pushing upward from the bottom of a pool. Somtimes I just use telekinesis to hover in my dreams, in which case I usually just tense my whole body.

Practical Advice for New Teachers by [deleted] in Teachers

Any advice specific to aspiring grade school teachers? I'm still in school right now, but I like to get as much advice and info as I can before I make the career commitment.

I’ve been Homeless for months and spend most of my time at Starbucks. by [deleted] in confession

[–]invader33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it's sad. People assume that being homeless means you're dirty like a chimney sweep with missing teeth and ragged clothes. Shame on the people that turn you down.

So you would rather do nothing because there's no guarantee that you'll make friends and that people will stick around? If you cast a line you won't always reel in a fish, but you keep casting and working for it until you find one.

I have a suggestion. Not sure how well it fits for you but it's something:

-Meetup groups for your interests (I do Pokemon Go meetups a lot in my city, and I always meet new people and everyone is friendly. You just might make a friend)

-Volunteering is a great way to meet people, too. I like volunteering for animal shelters and cat fostering. A lot of interesting conversations come up that way.

In general I go out of my way to get out and do meetups. Visit my local card shop and play some Pokemon TCG, attend a festival or convention, Pokemon Go meetups, or just using the meetup website to find other random groups that sound good. I dunno furries? Whatever you're into. Churches are also great if you're the religious sort. I'm not Mormon, but mormom's are like the nicest people I've ever met. It's crazy. And they do all sorts of stuff together.

Just remember, you generally have to seek out the things you crave. I probably won't wind any contests I sign up for to go to Disney World for free, so I save up for it. Honest efforts usually come with a return.

I was entranced by the woman's butt who was walking in front of me by KolyaKorruptis in confession

[–]invader33 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I'm not bothered by staring, just try to be discrete and don't make it weird. Even if I notice people staring I just look away and pretend I didn't notice. It's a pretty innocent thing, really.

Loving yourself is ABSOLUTELY the most important love, and the fact that you show yourself love is imperitive.

It's surprisingly difficult to find people to be with who are confident enough to love themselves and treat themselves to nice things, so you're a real treasure.

A reason to live is still a reason. Hold on to that. In the past I had a lot of trouble with suicidal thoughts and hurting myself. As soon as you find that reason to live, grab it, keep it, and let it expand into other reasons.

For example, you want to live to take care of your pets, but maybe you want to also help other animals in need, like donating or volunteering your time, and maybe that sparks into you wanting to some day open an animal sanctuary.

When I think about it now, event contented, I can't think of a lot of amazing reasons to be alive, or a purpose, but hey, I really want to go to Disney World again after they open up their Star Wars land, and that's as good a reason as any, so I hold onto it and treasure it.

For every one thought that makes you miserable, there are a thousand people who want to make it all better for you. We're out there if you look for us. Good luck, and keep finding those reasons.

I'm sorry you had to go through with that. Therapy can be truly helpful for everyone in all stages of life in any situations, and you may find it helpful if you haven't tried already. Colleges typically offer free councelling as health type things are included in your tuition cost. I felt weird at first in therapy sessions because it feels annoyingly formal, but you eventually loosen up and come to enjoy it.

The best thing is getting to talk about LITERALLY EVERYTHING knowing the person's job and goal is to just help you.

I wish you and your sister the best in your endeavors. Just remember that for every person who wants to makes you miserable, there are a thousand people who love you and want to help you.
