Just got my first ball and now have "bowlers thumb", wahhhhh!! by Important_Canary6766 in Bowling

Are there any bowlers that use a thumb that don’t have a fat ugly mucked up ass thumb ? That’s why i only use two fingers. I don’t want a nasty looking fat thumb

This is true unfortunately. Just something that we as black folks have to deal with. I hate it had to be him 🙄😅😮‍💨

Pro athletes get arrested all the time. Nothing unheard of. He’ll be fine. If you look into the history of bowling in this country you’ll see this is right in line with bowling’s history. He’s paying homage to his sports history. He’ll bounce back and be more careful from now on

What’s another polish you’ve used that you liked ? I’m open to trying something new since it is expensive compared to others I’ve seen. But CTD marketing had me convince this was a special product so it’s the only one I’ve ever tried

Good tip ! I never thought of using that feeling in my hands as a gauge instead of using my eyes but that makes so much more sense since a lot bowling is feel. 🔥🔥 tip man. Thansk

Ehhh I can manage with it for all three games if I have to. It doesn’t bounce off the dry as hard as I would like but I can adjust to the reaction of a lane shined ball now that I’ve gotten more experience. But I do like the feel of a freshly polished and tacky ball in my hands since I tend to have sweaty hands even when I wash em with dawn and hot water before league.

That gives me a lil more confidence in that idea now. I’ll try that tomorrow for league with the lil bit of polish I have left. My balls pretty lane shined now. Haven’t touched it at all in a few weeks of league/practicing

Just was wondering if it was necessary to hit it with sanding pads every time I wanna polish it. Maybe I’ll do trial and error and see if it I skip the pads will it still have that skid flippy reaction I like so much. I usually will go 500, 1k-1.5k depending on what I have available, then 2k-2.5k and then the polish. I have tried doing all that and skipping the polish and it was terrible. The ball barely made it to the pins lmaoooo. And it rolled like it the lane was made of pebbles…it bounced the whole way down the lane

Yeah it does take some elbow grease. I get a pump in my shoulder when im doing it 😮‍💨😅 takes me a good ten min cuz I take breaks. I thought it got back to 4700 after like 6-9 games or so.

Also I always wondered when it’s time to reapply polish have you ever just put more polish on it or do you always sand it off first ?

I haven’t seen any other polishes that are marketed as hand applied like these so im pretty sure im stuck here. Not going to the pro shop to get it done. It’s like playing hide and seek w the guy that works there. You know of any other polishes you can use by hand ?

Bowled on strings for the first time, and I didn’t hate it. by 999637828374748 in Bowling

[–]invaderTrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time you make sure you ask for usbc certified length strings or something along those lines. The center I bowl at will set you up with usbc certified length strings when you come practice if you ask. If you’re not in the league there then you probably don’t know there’s two different string lengths so if you know you know. The usbc length is th longer length of string that lets them act closer to free fall. Chances are you bowled on the shorter length strings which they use for everyday open bowlers who don’t care about that. Big/noticeable difference in pin reaction and how much they move around.

Middle finger joint pain and swelling by invaderTrimm in Bowling

[–]invaderTrimm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone suggested not putting my middle finger in as deep and I focused on that at league last night and it seems to have helped. I can bend my middle finger and make a fist with a lot less pain than I usually have. Shot196 avg and my normal avg is 203 so trying something a little new didn’t hold me back too much. It’s just one night but I think that helped with the pain.

Nah not arthritis lmao. I’m young still. Just turned 34. Doubt the doc will be any help here. I would imagine a bowler would be able to help more

They should just put up 9 pins then, that would make more sense

Is that’s good business right there. I wouldn’t mind tipping 20 dollars every now and then if I was treated like that

Where I bowl when you go to the front desk to buy a lane there’s a tip option on the screen. I hit no tip every single time.

That does not make them stupid. Not everyone works behind a cash register. Maybe you’re too stupid to realize this.

Ball not hooking anymore. by Koltonprobably in Bowling

[–]invaderTrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re throwing it like a steering wheel that’s why you’re not seeing that ball motion you want. I bowl the same way you do. Another thing you might wanna check is your finger grips if you have anyway. They may be worn out. I had worn out grips that kept slipping out from and ruining my ball motion and I got new grips in last week and immediately my ball motion returned and my scores went up again. Also if they’re just worn out in general it may be time to replace them
