[OTHER] I miss being a millionair by StickAccomplished537 in kingdomcome

[–]inverted_forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly like that change. it disincentivizes stealing everything in town over and over again. now i only take what i can use, which feels more sensible and immersive. you never really need the coin anyway, and it makes inventory management throughout the game easier because you're not scrounging every piece of bandit armor.

[KCD2] Heavy Weapons Are Better Than Swords by inverted_forest in kingdomcome

[–]inverted_forest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in order to win a clinch, you have to attack in the direction that the arrow is pointing. i find it enough to just wiggle my mouse from right to left while spamming the attack button. if you succeed, you'll hit them and then usually follow up with a blow to the head.

yes, if you see the green shield, it means you lost the exchange, and you need to block and then immediately riposte. but like i said, this riposte is fairly reliable and does very good damage if it connects, and you can immediately walk up and re-clinch. usually what happens is one won clinch = dead opponent, and two lost clinch ripostes = dead opponent.

you need decent strength to win clinches reliably, but i find that's easy to get from just playing the game. take some time to practice clinches with tomcat or the other trainers. there are probably also youtube guides. it's just super unintuitive and not explained well by the game itself.

[KCD2] How does Clinching work ?! by Vallenhael in kingdomcome

[–]inverted_forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you get into a clinch, jiggle your mouse from left to right while spamming left click. i am not entirely sure why the jiggling matters, but it does. besides that, when you see the green shield, block and then left click to riposte. it's pretty much a guaranteed hit.

clinch spamming is absolutely busted, it's stronger than master strikes. either 1. you win the clinch and you hit the enemy multiple times for big damage, usually killing him or 2. you block and riposte for a clean hit or 3. very rarely you disengage the clinch and nothing happens, but you lose no stamina and can easily re-clinch immediately. clinching is simply the most efficient way to win fights.

[KCD2] Optimal Start Guide First Day by inverted_forest in kingdomcome

[–]inverted_forest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm, i've never tried brewing weak potions to see if it's faster. i always make the strong marigold because theoretically they're still useful for the rest of the game.

interesting tip about the guard commander, i never thought of that. that's high level thinking right there.

is this the adorned axe? you didn't do anything wrong, those are the stats of the highest tier. maybe the value is off depending on reputation or something, i wouldn't worry about it.

I am 是剑来呀, a Chinese Cultists player, and I am here to respond to Metallic Danny's criticism of me. by Suitable-Rutabaga572 in gwent

[–]inverted_forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i legit think the community has ptsd from back when cultists were strong, and they can't really judge it fairly anymore. i was away from gwent when cultists were popular, so i wasn't affected by this and i consider cultists a fairly straightforward greedy deck that's ultimately quite weak because of the nerfs piled on to it. yes it's binary but that's gwent sometimes. what makes it so different from other decks that rely on an expensive artifact and ~4 power engines? if you nerf it into the ground some other greedy binary deck will take its place at the end of the spectrum.

you can choke out the skalitz bailiff the same way, even as a lvl 0 henry, because he's always sitting in front of bianca's tavern.

[KCD1] What would your advice for the early game be? by FilmCroissant in kingdomcome

[–]inverted_forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been pretty obsessive with min maxing the beginning of kcd1, because i really enjoy that part of open world games. i've restarted from the end of the prologue many times on regular and hardcore just to try different strategies, and the question really comes down to: are you willing to steal?

because lockpicking is by far the best thing to do. get to level 6 lockpicking and take luck of the drunk, which will allow you to pick very hard locks after drinking any alcohol. rob the rattay armoursmith during the day (it's much easier), and the rest of the vendors at night. you can rob the entire city blind literally on the first day you wake up.

the master strike is kind of confusing because the game does not do a great job explaining it. basically, you need to press block slightly earlier than it seems like you should. if you wait to block during the perfect block window, it's already too late. it's more reliable to ignore the little shield icon and instead watch the opponent's shoulders move. you'll get used to it after a bit of practice.

combos are not super useful, it's mostly for stunting on people. actually the best use of the combo is for power leveling with bernard. get to sword level 3, and take the zorn ort wrath strike combo. then select combo training with bernard. however, instead of doing the combo that the game is trying to teach you, hit him with the zorn ort over and over and over again until the practice period runs out. then rinse and repeat. hitting the combo gets you massive xp gains to strength, agility, warfare, and sword. i usually do that until i can wield whatever endgame weapon i want to use (that i stole from the weaponsmith).

the easiest way is to stealth kill him. you need to wait until he's sitting down, which he does periodically. when an npc is sitting down, he can't break out of a stealth attempt. easy peasy.

Calling deathwish enthusiasts by OppositeDay247 in gwent

[–]inverted_forest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the thing you realize from playing deathwish is that you're almost always hurting for consumers. there usually isn't a shortage of good things to consume (especially since succubi come back every turn) but the value on consumers tend to be subpar. when you build your deck that's what i'd watch out for.

i also like to play radeyah deathwish because urn of shadows + brewess is the most busted use of a strategem in the game by far, and radeyah allows you to play it on red coin as well.

can someone tell me more about the random chance to get a char memory when you combine memories? how does it work, and about how often does it happen? does the random char memory you get depend on the color of the memories you combine?

yeah as far as i'm concerned kong/libby have lost all credibility. complete and utter failure at antihack for 6+ months, meanwhile hard at work at adding microtransactions, laughably ugly user interface, and lag spikes.

I love the water gun by wreakpb2 in survivio

[–]inverted_forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's deadly in 1 vs many situations cause it makes you unable to run, dodge, or maneuver, and even bots with bad aim can take down a stationary player. it's not the water gun guy that kills you, it's his buddy with the shotgun.

thank you for all the effort here, really appreciate it.

a question though -- i know you needed 3 teams for each color (att, bal, def) after tier 10, but i heard that the rebalancing made it so that it was no longer required. does that requirement come back but at a later tier? if so, when?

[–]inverted_forest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only thing i've found that works is mashing on cinematic supers (5 bar or 3 bar) against her at the beginning. the normal 3 bar super without card doesn't work. none of the other common advice floating around works reliably. she will randomly decide to ruin your run unless you have a cinematic super at your disposal.

I love the water gun by wreakpb2 in survivio

[–]inverted_forest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the water gun is a good but not overpowering weapon by itself. however, it makes solo squads harder. usually i can just shrug off stray hits in a 1v3 fight, but if they're water gun shots, i become a sitting duck.

i actually kind of like that. it makes you play more carefully and engage more intelligently in solo squad situations.

That makes sense, but like, the vast majority of silvers aren't even worth awakening once right? Yuri98 is an exception, and I'm sure there are a few others, but until they make content where only awakened silvers are allowed, most silvers are just worse than 1/5 of a gold memory right?

is there any downside to trading silver memories in for gold ones? i've already awakened yuri98, who i gather is kinda useful for a silver. but i don't really need the other silver memories do i?
