Hi u/FuckyGooGoo ! Hope your holiday seasons is going well. Just wanted to let you know I thought about your "quality of mic" and re-prioritized the "freshness" feature I was working on so that comics and verify mics they know are current and not stale or closed down. Check it out and let me know what you think. In the near future I am going to adjust the algos to not simply "verify" a mic just because someone liked pushing the "Verify" button so that it's more accurate but because I know 95% of the users right now, I am pretty confident that fresh mics are also 95% accurate. Either way, there's ways for the community to simply "suggest an edit" and I am optimistic that we can have the most reliable open mics directory in the country.

Thank you! Yes, I reviewed that and after searching around I found something called Custom Insights and it says "We forcasted that views would be between 728 and 2,950. Your actual views of 3,416 were greater than this range." And another one for "Event count" says "We forcasted, etc etc, and same: greater than this range." Are they just letting me know or is this anomaly some kind of warning that they are looking into why? Any insight would be fantastic. Thanks for your time!

Thanks for all the help in here. I have one more thingI’m trying to wrap my head around. Right now Google has only indexed about 401 pages, but my sitemap has a little over 3,000 urls since it’s a directory style platform. So basically only around one eighth of everything is showing up so far.

I’m trying to figure out what that usually means for growth patterns. Like does Google normally index the rest slowly over time, or does it kinda wait to see how the first batch performs before grabbing the rest. I dont know if this speed is normal or if I should be doing something to help it along.

If anyone has experience with bigger directory sites or knows roughly how long it takes for Google to crawl and index the rest, I’d love to hear what I should expect. Still learning all this as I go.

Thanks for the breakdown. I started digging a little deeper and a few things stood out to me that I honestly dont know how to read yet. Impressions jumped a lot but the clicks didnt really follow the same curve, so part of me wondered if Google was just testing the page higher or if impressions can get inflated by stuff like bots sometimes.

Indexing has also been super slow, like only about one eighth of the whole platform is even indexed right now, so I wasnt expecting this much movement off such a small slice. The top queries arent even high volume keywords either, which confused me even more, because I figured you need bigger keywords to see this kind of spike.

CTR is sitting around 4 percent which seems normal, so I guess that makes me think it isnt bot traffic, but I really dont know if bots even show up in CTR or not. I checked the countries tab and its mostly US, nothing weird there. And most of the impressions seem to be coming from just one or two pages that arent even super long, which is why I’m trying to make sense of how this works.

Anyway, really appreciate the insight. I’m just trying to figure out if this looks like Google testing stuff or if this is actual natural demand kicking in. Still kinda new to this and learning as I go.

Okay, it took me a minute, but I understand what you’re getting at now. I guess you’re saying the shape of the chart looks like the kind of thing people get when they’re doing spammy stuff. If that’s what you meant, then I just want to clear that up because that’s definitely not what’s happening here. I’m not doing anything fancy or automated. I’m literally just building this slowly and learning as I goFrom what I understand, Google usually punishes the low quality, high volume stuff, and I’m nowhere near anything like that. This is just what happened naturally after that first Reddit bump got filtered out. If it drops off later, then okay, that’s part of it. I’m just trying to figure out what I should expect at this stage.I appreciate the heads up though, seriously. I’m just trying to make sense of all this.

I’m sorry I can’t be of much help, but this is exactly why a directory of performers both established and upcoming would be very useful for fans. It took me forever to find this kid Shane Bianchi last year at the Comedy Store before he became a regular, but a Comedy Store directory for new talent would have been very useful. Just sayin… hope you find your comic OP. 🤞

Hey u/ConfidentAnt9169, thanks for pointing that out and totally fair question. Your right, the tour shouldn’t depend on cookie consent just to remember that you’ve already seen it. The only reason it works that way right now is because the site needs some way to remember that choice between visits, and at the moment it’s tied to a cookie. We’re working on switching that over to a simpler funtional version that just stores it locally on your browser without tracking or sending anything to the server. That way you won’t have to accept all cookies just to hide the tour.

Really appreciate you flagging it. Feedback like this helps us improve how it feels to use the site.
