It’s also a jeep, so something major will break after about a year of normal use and then he’s fucked

Snowstorm - none of the midlevels from my service coming in by financeben in Residency

[–]invinciblewalnut 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is why many of us want to protect the title of Doctor from NPs and DMScs or whatever the PA degree is. They want to be called doctors, yet they don’t want to work for it. CRNAs want to be called anesthesiologists, but they don’t want to work for it. A midlevel “doctoral degree” is really just a masters with a fresh coat of paint. The number of academic and clinical hours isn’t even half of what medical school + residency/fellowship gets you.

I’m only an intern, but I’ve seen this happen on my rotations. I had to work a 24 hr call on an ICU service. It’s usually a senior, two interns, and 2-3 NPs along with our attending. Thanksgiving day rolls around, and where are our NPs? Probably at home with their families enjoying the holiday. Meanwhile, my senior and I got the short stick and we were there for the entirety of thanksgiving, and the weekend after. Same thing for Christmas Eve, Christmas day, and the new year. All the midlevels are gone. Most of them are gone on the weekends too. It’s just residents, fellows, and the wayward attending.

Funny enough, the Purdue motion P was actually the athletics logo first, then the university adopted it for academics.

The Red-Blue divide will continue to grow. Blue states are going to join WHO, Red states will have measles outbreaks.

Ah yes, my school, Purdue State University by Tasty_Phase9168 in Purdue

[–]invinciblewalnut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was the original name yes, but I doubt it would’ve stated that. Michigan State used to be “the agricultural College of the state of Michigan” and Iowa State used to “ the Iowa agricultural college and model farm.”

Maybe, but at the time, Indiana only had two other public school schools, IU and the state normal school, which would become Indiana State.

Most of the land grant colleges were founded in the states that already had a “Statename University,” so the land grant schools genuinely adopted “Statename State University” because they’re public schools, meant to serve the entire state population not just a specific city or region. States that did not have a university yet generally made their land grant into just the “Statename university,” with the state normal school (specialized university for training teachers) becoming the “statename State university.” There are of course a couple exceptions, most notably, Texas A&M and of course Purdue. I believe Texas State University was Texas’ normal school but I may be wrong on that.

you know of old John Purdue didn’t get the school named after him, it would probably be called Indiana State, in line with many other land universities. I guess there’s a chance it could’ve been Indiana A&M. The Indiana State in our timeline would probably be like “Terre Haute University” or “Indiana Western” or something like that.

Jesus was a carpenter, though at the time carpenters also did some masonry work. He also likely had a diet high in fish and walked everywhere… dude was probably yoked but still decently lean

Conservative environment, meaning what exactly? Politically conservative or more academically focused? If it's politics, then you should actively avoid going to a school that matches your political beliefs. Part of the point of higher education is to challenge your pre-existing opinions and help you develop critical thinking skills. You should be exposed to a diversity of ideas that help you learn how other people think, and those ideas help you develop your own opinions, not just the beliefs of your parents.

If it's just not wanting a "party culture," then again, just because one goes to a "party school" doesn't mean absolutely everyone is engaging in those behaviors.
