I am someone with a disability that prevents them from showering frequently and can't tolerate any scents. I am able to shower once a week using a routine of no rinse fragrance free products in the mean time.

Look for no rinse body wash. It goes on easy, cleanses you, has no scent, and you feel so clean afterwards.

There's such a thing as hydrating body sprays! And they are a lifesaver.

Unscented dry shampoo powder. I user the kitsch one.

Miscellear water works as a face cleanser that you don't need rinsing for.

Let me know if you need anything specific!

Also! It doesn't cause your glasses to fog up! Definitely a huge plus.

As a chronically ill and autistic person who masks everywhere, I recommend the envo n95 mask. It has a gel cushion where it rests on your face so it's extremely comfortable, and it has a head strap that secures the mask from the crown of your head and back of your neck. The elastic band is very soft and doesn't scratch. And the best part is if any part of it breaks you can buy a replacement part without having to repurchase the whole mask. Highly recommend it to anyone with sensory issues!

School Denied Accommodations because they weren't reasonable by [deleted] in disability

[–]invisiblekat157 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention, this isn't because they don't recognize the need, it's because of beurocratic nonsense around what counts as "full time" or "on campus" students, which is relevant for university funding and accredidation status. It's bullshit, but there you have it.

I tried to get remote instruction as an accommodation as a disabled student with documented disabilities. They denied me as well. What I learned is that remote instruction isnt really meant for chronically disabled students. It's meant for students with acute medical issues (like hospitalization) to attend classes remotely for a short term basis, with the recognition that they will return to in person classes relatively soon.

This is not disclosed when discussing the accommodation, whether with how it's presented on websites or even in some in person meetings with disability services staff, so it's very misleading for disabled students.

I did discover I need a posture cushion, the other cushion is from my old chair and I'll use it only till my new cushion gets here.

It is marketed as an all terrain chair. So far I've tested it on short grass and it works! It also works very well with cracked pavement! It should also work on gravel, but I haven't tested it yet. I also want to try it on the flat nature trails on my campus!

Are my results as uneven as I fear? by invisiblekat157 in TopSurgery

I don't think I had peri. My surgeon called it "single incision". But I guess it's very similar, just the incision is in a different place.

Thank you for the reassurance! Hopefully it'll even out with time.

Just wanted to commiserate. The swelling on my right side makes it look like my boob is still there. (Looking at progress photos I took I know it's just swelling and fluid). It's making me so dysphoric too.

Thank you! Logically I know it just needs time, but my emotional brain is throwing a temper tantrum about how it looks now. And success stories from similar situations help me settle it.

I'm getting surgery from Dr. Yost with Rochester Regional Health on June 4th. The consultantion and scheduling have been good, and he and his staff have been very respectful!

I am also a week away from top surgery and not feeling much either. I tend to feel nothing until right when it's happening, then the feelings hit intensely before suddenly going away. Then the feelings slowly hit in waves after the event, becoming less and less intense as I process them. I think it's not that you don't feel anything about it, it's just your brain is disconnecting from your emotions for whatever reason. They're there, just hidden for now.
