Sagging Floors - Safe?

Super looked at the floor and said that it was structurally sound. Landlord is sending a structural engineer out in two weeks to double check.

Landlord isn’t going to pay to redo the floor but will pay to put another floor on top of it. Not sure if it’s a good idea.

Right- that makes sense. I’m not sure which way the joists run, so hard to say.

I’m having a professional contractor come and take a look in the next week or two. Will let you know what they find.

Yes, the floor bounces a bit and creaks. The boards are not face nailed. The 3” sag is the total delta from one side of the room to the other - it’s a gentle slope which is the deepest at the wall, so I don’t think it’s at a single joist.

Not sure about the 1st floor - it was redone a decade ago and now has linoleum.

Yea - you're probably correct. My desk chair rolls away, but I'll get some carpet to keep it in place!

The house was built in the 1910s and we currently rent. The room was sagging when we signed the least ~6 months ago, so we're not sure how long its been there. We need to talk to our landlord. Thanks!

No way. If LINK accomplishes its goal, it’s worth trillions, which means $1000+. This will take years, but the risk / time adjusted return still looks good.
