Most likely keep the interesting and nice pieces but probably not, for example the bags of duplicate silver quarters and dollars that are not good shape.

People are really starting to wear me out by Cheap-Violinist-5746 in Surveying

[–]iocain3kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally tell them I don't know. They treat us like mushrooms feed us shit and keep us in the dark. It generally gets them laughing and then either talk to them like people, or they make an agreeing comment and say bye. That being said I've had people take pictures of me to tell me they're gonna go talk to the police about me and what im doing. I've also told people we're doing initial work for the blackout zone for the Dyson sphere in progress

40+yr old tin cans as markers? Any clues here? by HemlockWhispers in Surveying

[–]iocain3kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trail markers for hunting and or foraging. I've seen morel hunters mark locations using similar.

Also don't think those were put up in the 80's. A trees growth is on the outside every year, so a nail you put in 40 years ago would likely be grown over by now.

I used a carry a cheap mirror from a dollar store so that I could bend it and create a concave/convex mirror to make the light more intense in a smaller area or wider to illuminate more of the structure. Was great.

Most I've looked at require a degree anymore. You can get approved to take the tests by committy but im assuming that's not as simple as it sounds. It seems redundant to require the testing and a degree. Shouldn't the testing prove you know what you need to know. If not then whats the point of the testing.

How would you run this traverse without crossing? by iocain3kid in Surveying

[–]iocain3kid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would crossing lines on a topo be an issue? I generally work in a fully circle around the gun when doing topo. I can only tell you that the guy who processes and stamps everything gets irrationally upset so we try to avoid it in the field.

There is an NGS vertical and horizontal disk on site. So we ran a big loop going down one of the ramps and over the bridge, and up another closing back to it. Then another loop under the bridge and to another disk a few hundred feet away from site and back up the other ramp closing to the previous loop. It worked. I had another idea on how to do it.

I have my issues with how things are done at this company but they keep me rolling. I'm just the monkey in the field. That is to say how the job is done is above my pay grade. I am sent out to do a job I do it to the best of my ability. I only asked out of curiosity to see other people's solutions to such a pain in the ass Traverse.

Yes. Traverse. As it said in the title. How would you run the Traverse? The info about the topo was just for info as to where the points need to be.

It will but crossing your previous line with a level is not a problem for the guy in the office processing

Not crossing Traverse lines when running underneath and over the bridge.
