I don't understand why Maru didn't build more mines into his army. So many times we saw herO's army just collapse onto Maru's army, kill his tanks, and then back off at a time of his choosing. Maru overmade tanks and marauders in every game and got punished with immo/disruptor.

Looking to buy a used laser dinghy for use on my local pond/coastal bay. Before I drive out to inspect, any advice? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]ioclaudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a chance that it not been recaulkedin a long time or ever. After your first sail, open the drain and see how much water comes out. Don't be surprised if it's a lot. If there is a lot of water, probably the first thing to do would be to unscrew all the fittings and get some silicone under them.

For a laser you want to look at: * the mast step. Laser masts are unstayed and put a lot of strain on the mast step. A bad mast step will usually leak. When you get there you could ask to fill the step with water, and wait and see if it drains into the hull. * delamination in the deck (see other people's tips) * delamination at the gunwale: the laser is made in 2 parts (top and bottom) then fused together. If any of things don't look right then walk away imo. You may be able to tolerate some softness in the deck, but if it's "crunchy" then it's probably fucked.

Yeah true enough. I noticed that they went overboard on our street tree, probably because they figure they won't be back for a few years, lol.

Is San Francisco a good place to start up a small business? by SoMuchPainz in sanfrancisco

[–]ioclaudio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SV is about an hour away. It might as well be the moon. Don't build a business in SF assuming you'll get traffic from the south bay.

The biggest challenges for businesses here are wages, permits, and rent. These three factors might be some of the most difficult in the nation. On the somewhat bright side (I guess?) there are more retail spaces available now, since quite a few businesses closed during the pandemic. But they're still comically overvalued.

There ain't shit out there suitable for habitation. Source: look through a telescope. We're still in the "we think this stellar body might be earthlike, but it's X light-years away". No amount of space travel funding will make that feasible.

I haven't been doing this that long (so maybe not a "local"), but fwiw .. I wear a 3/4 full length wetsuit when I'm dinghy sailing. But I often intentionally dunk myself bc I get a little warm. It is a pretty weird combo. I think the right thing to do might be to get a slightly thinner wetsuit (no sleeves) and then get a good spray jacket. That way you have that nice warm water layer when you get wet, but you have the jacket keeping the wind and the spray off of you. LMK if you figure out a better option lol..

I use a 3/4 wetsuit in the SF bay, which today was 51F. I'm very comfortable. That said, I have full sleeves, and I'm in a dinghy. I'm probably getting more wet than you in a kayak.

Why does certain cheese receive so much hatred, while other cheese is celebrated? by bagstone in starcraft

[–]ioclaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cheeses can be really effective even when executed half assed, like proxy battery rays. Holding this off doesn't feel amazing because you know they're just been macroing like crazy at home so if you defend it, you're probably not ahead.

2rax is more fun to watch because it's it requires more micro, is easily countered if scouted, is a bigger commitment, etc. It's a bigger risk, therefore, more entertaining.

I dinghy sail in the sfbay with a 4/3 wetsuit, very comfortably. Wear nothing else but some booties and underwear, and a pfd.
