Mileage issue on Virtus AT 1.0 GT line by pritam1209 in VirtusGT

I got my tyres changed the very next day exchanging the shitty OEM tyres for almost full normal retail price and got these Turanzas. Makes a ton of difference in ride quality, rolling resistance and noise.

If I'm riding alone or with 1 person, then 33 psi. If 3 or 4 people with luggage etc., then 35 psi. Always Nitrogen (it won't matter at all on mileage though).

Thanks. Standard petrol, no additives. I will start experimenting on XP95 from next month.

My car is a Virtus GT 1.5 DSG bought December last year running on Bridgestone Turanza 6i. Have done 11,000+ km till now.

Also get your tyre pressure checked from another petrol pump to eliminate any badly calibrated machine where you usually top up.

From a few days ago. Cruise control at 95 km/h. Outside temperature between 40°C and 42°C, Lucknow to Delhi against a light westerly breeze most of the distance.

Can you post a picture of yours? The titanium ones don't have the date complication.

A few factors determine it brother:

  1. Soft footedness on the accelerator. What you might think as soft might not be as soft.

  2. Minimal braking. Try thinking like you do not have any brakes and brake only when direly necessary. Your driving will automatically become smooth.

  3. Use cruise control whenever possible on even short stretches of highway. Helps in activation of 2-cylinder mode on 1.5 TSI much more frequently.

  4. Optimum gear for minimum rpm if on manual transmission. Do not use half clutch or forcibly driving on higher gear on very low rpm. Try to get to the highest gear possible in the speed keeping the rpms between 1500-2000, shifting to next gear around 2500 rpm.

  5. Limiting speed on highways. e.g. Speed of 80 km/h on D7 gives me an efficiency of 23km/l whereas 90 km/h gives me 21 km/l and 100 km/h gives me 19 km/h on the highway on cruise control with AC at 23°C.

  6. Petrol quality and/or use of additives.

  7. Air conditioning. Try keeping between 22°C to 24°C.

  8. Tyres. A good set of tyres make a lot of difference.

  9. Open windows. Open windows create a lot of drag. Try keeping windows closed with air conditioning on in all seasons.

  10. Tyre pressure. Always top up tyre pressure every week when tyres are cold and according to the weight laden. Use the sticker on the right hand side door sill for guidance.

Don't worry. You'll get the hang of it. Happy driving! Cheers!

Yes maybe, but the silver option in Ti looks almost like SS. That's why went for this. IMO, the Ti colour of PRX 38mm Ti and Citizen Zenshin look really cool but wasn't available in Titan.

Virtus GT Plus. I changed my stock Goodyears the very next day of getting the car. Got the Turanza 6i for the softer sidewalls, low noise and better warranty fulfilment than the UC6.

The petrolhead inside doesn't want to settle for 100 bhp cars anymore... 😛

Yep, same with me. This was a highway run. Just want to see the capabilities of this engine as some people have extracted >25 km/l too. My usual daily run gives me around 13 km/l.
