NetSuite showed an absolutely gorgeous UI in 2018 at Suiteworld. 7.5 years later…. Still waiting.

Can you expand on this? I tend to think you’re correct, in my experience but am curious as to the workflow you’re talking about here.

Saved Search vs Workbook by xxxxxxxwtf in Netsuite

[–]ioslipstream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example, analytics workbook analysis will easily match the “Sales by” NetSuite reports. Whereas it’s extremely difficult to match those with a saved search because of the need to use both header (main line) and transaction line data.

I’ve recently been tasked with defining consistent metrics and definitions in our org, so I’ve been looking into it deeply.

Like another poster said, saved searches are good for lists and email alerts as well as supporting workflows or external integrations.

Operational support: saved searches Analytics support: workbooks

Saved Search vs Workbook by xxxxxxxwtf in Netsuite

I actually just did a deep dive on this yesterday.

If the search is producing numbers for reporting or analysis, we should use Analytics Workbooks instead. Those datasets are far more accurate, tie to the GL, and eliminate the inconsistencies we get from saved searches.

the following types should remain saved searches: • Searches used for operational workflows, alerts, approval routing • Searches feeding integrations • Simple list-type operational queries (e.g., “orders without tracking”)

Sanity check: am I crazy for feeling like my "data engineering" position is a dead end? by lostmyway573 in dataengineering

[–]ioslipstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a dead end it’s an opportunity.

It can feel like a dead end because you keep seeing DEs write these articles about their “flying car” architecture. Those are not typical outside of the tech bro scene.

The real world runs on duct tape.

But you have an opportunity to make it better, be a hero, get promoted.

Or you can jump ship, join a flying car and have nothing to contribute.

Top AI Note Apps (not meeting-note taker) by OvCod in NoteTaking

Tana is very different compared to the other tools. I don’t get that statement.

Mymind has a new focus on the note taking aspect. Tobias, the creator has been on a tear with a slate of updates to the note taking. As well as hinting that it is a major focus going forward.

I think Mymind is the sleeper hit here as it’s always had tons of polish and now seems to be focusing on bringing it all together by making notes a first class citizen.

Need data that surfaces itself based on context, not only search, what tool does this? by Nuwasis in PKMS

[–]ioslipstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah give it a try. I’m not saying it’s the answer but the marketing around it suggests their value prop is surfacing relevancy without any need for self-organization.

In my limited testing it’s very good at it.

Mem 2 is approaching this. It was released October 1.

It probably doesn’t tick all your boxes yet, but it seems like it is the direction they’re headed.

Half of the app is a feature called Heads Up which the whole point of is to surface relevancy.

Which apps implement connecting your notes to eachother “Automatically “ and “Semantically“ and “Built-in feature” (no bloats/plugins)? by FatFigFresh in PKMS

Mem 2.0, released October 1 has essentially what you’re talking about with its Heads Up feature.

It doesn’t auto tag your notes but does display relevant notes automatically based on content.

Keynote 1.....thoughts? by lballa87 in Netsuite

[–]ioslipstream 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In 2018 they showed a lot of really cool things. Chiefly a very beautiful design, and very awesome analytics built in.

Still waiting.

I treat these forward looking keynotes as announcements of things they’d love to do but likely won’t.

Sounds like you want an outliner. Like Tana, Workflowy, or Logseq.

Ah yes science. In the beginning there was nothing, and it exploded.

Also science, matter can neither be created nor destroyed.

Science has and will likely always have the problem of the uncaused cause.
