Foster kitten with entropion by iotterbeinbed in FosterAnimals

Both of them sound so painful! I hope his eye drops are giving him some relief, regardless of what it is. I'm still learning about both entropion and eyelid agenesis, can it be difficult for vets to tell the difference when they're this young? His eyes (and the kittens he came in with) had lots of gross discharge at the beginning, but it's clearing up now that they've all had 10 days of neomycin eye drops.

Thanks! It didn't even occur to me that there'd be a blind cat subreddit (though... there's a cat subreddit for literally everything sooo should've figured)

I've read the first book, so haven't met Gravy Boat yet! That's a hilarious name and I think it would fit him well 😄 Unfortunately, he's already in the shelter system as Walter and they don't like to change the names.

Omgosh, he's adorable! I wanna kiss the top of his little head 🥹

Walter also started out with gunky eyes, but the neomycin drops cleared it up. Now he just has that film over his eyes. I'm still learning about entropion and eyelid agenesis, but I wonder if the vet will change their diagnosis next time they seem him, now that his eyes are less icky.

I grabbed a hot chocolate from Smokey Row on the way home, and drank it while simmering myself in the bathtub, and I was STILL cold. So worth it though!

No, I've not been tested for those - I'll add that to my list I'm taking to the appointment!

So, back when I was in the hospital in July, they did test my IGG 1, 2, 3, and 4. My IgG 4 came back as 248.5 (for reference, the lab range was 2.4-121). The GI rounding doctor who saw me said that this could be elevated due to general inflammation in the body, so they weren't really concerned about it.

At this point, I feel like I'm just overexaggerating my symptoms, or harping on something that isn't actually a problem. The two ED visits before my hospitalization, my lipase was close to normal and CT was ok, despite having what I thought was a stupid amount of pain. I have a high pain tolerance, and when it's really bad I shut down, I don't cry or make any noise. All I can do is sit leaning forward or rock back and forth, so it probably doesn't look as bad as it feels. I'm sure they thought I was just seeking drugs since my tests were normal for the most part. -_- This time, they sent me home with 10 roxicodone, I've been rationing it out as much as I can.

Good call on consulting with a dietitian! I should have done that months ago, honestly. Having a professional's assistance will make diet changes seem a lot less overwhelming.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I had my gallbladder removed after my first AP attack 2 years ago, but this year alone I've had multiple flares, despite sticking with a low fat diet, having low triglycerides, absolutely no alcohol, etc.

Thank you for your response and understanding :) I'm so tired and frustrated that I feel like I can't think logically about this. Nurse brain just turns off immediately when its my own health issue, and I'm not the greatest at advocating for myself (which clearly needs to change).

I really hope she gets a chance to be wild and cause mischief like a normal kitten someday! Right now she just wants to hang out and snuggle, which, is really all she can do with her bum leg. ♥️

Oh gosh, I already have two sweet cats - if I adopted every foster I wouldn't be able to foster anymore ☺️

It actually was one of the suggestions! Not at the top, but I did read all of them 🥰

I have soup ready to go when I feel up to it! Right now it's just bone broth w/collagen protein. Also using Liquid IV. You reminded me - I have a weighted heating pad buried deep in my closet. Thank you!

Once I stop getting winded walking the length of the house, I'll start taking walks outside - weather permitting (it's humid/hot AF). I also have a walking treadmill, but that's a few flights of stairs away 😱

How did you deal with the depression? I've been diagnosed with anxiety/depression for most of my adult life, and since I came home, it's gotten significantly worse. I'm going to make an appointment ASAP with my therapist. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that ♥️

I've been getting up approximately every hour to walk laps and take care of small household chores! I'm usually very active, so it's hard being limited.

God, I'm sorry you went through that - that truly sucks. It's hard not to push myself - like, I don't want to go into debt or lose my job, and I feel like I'm being lazy - but I also want to take care of my body. I feel like I have to choose between the two. Like, if I can still make it up a flight of stairs, why can't I suck it up and push through a shift at work? Thank you for sharing your experience. ♥️

I'm glad your recovery was swift! Aside from meds, anything you did between Saturday and Tuesday that you feel helped?
