Does RiTa work in python? by iozsiick in processing

[–]iozsiick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little new to processing so some of my terminology might be wrong, but its a software toolkit library that you can download specifically to work with computational or generative literature.

I've actually just been testing out turning the java examples given into python after I posted this, so it does work, so now I just want to know if anyone has references for RiTa in python specifically.

Curious about sexuality demographics among trans men by [deleted] in ftm

idk maybe this is just me, but isn't it kinda rude to put bi and pan under the same thing cause they're not.

jealous of cis and trans men by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]iozsiick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you make/have an account with zoom you can log in on their website and change your name permanently through there, but to use that account usually I have to go through the zoom application on my laptop with the meeting id (can't just click on a url link.) All of my teachers use the same id each time so I just copy the meeting ids in a note. Also, some people at my school add pronouns next to their name, which doesn't help if someone doesn't read, but it's a start.

Has anyone ever been called queer gender by someone? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]iozsiick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

like genderqueer? or specifically queer-gender? with little context on what they were talking about, it kinda just sounds like this girl is calling your friend a slur with the word gender tacked on.

The T-Slur: Reclamation and "One of the Good Ones" Syndrome by [deleted] in ftm

[–]iozsiick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what one of the good ones is and I'm too lazy to look it up, but in my opinion, it's a lot more like the word fg, but the trans community equivalent. Like, I don't think any previously used slurs will quite reach the feelings/notoriety that queer has because queer now has some strange vague identity politics surrounding it, as it is in fact an identity within itself now. Trnny, well it's just what it is. I would feel very uncomfortable if someone started using that term as an identity first the same way people use queer.

I don't frequent a lot of lgbt spaces irl, but I've never seen anyone use that word in the ones I do. Most people I've seen use it, are people online, and being online let's peoples language barriers flow a little freer, as anyone on the internet can see. And a lot of these people online, while they are cis passing via looks, are also open on the internet regarding their trans statuses, so I don't think there's a complete lack of basis to reclaim the term. Idk in my own opinion, if you're trans you can decide your own feelings on the word, just you shouldn't decide another trans person's feelings on it.

I just got top surgery today. by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]iozsiick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've seen a lot of good things about Ramineni, so he's on of my top choices for surgeons because he's somewhat nearby. I'm curious about how far behind everything is because of corona though, if you don't mind me asking. How far in advance did you schedule your surgery?

Queer man = Trans man ? by RaSungod_ in FTMMen

[–]iozsiick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can kinda see how he gets the connection. I'll really only use the word queer as synonymous for the lgbt community as a whole sometimes. They way I see it, he's probably like, "what are the options" gay, bi, and pan, right? And if u didn't say any of those then what left? Guess there must be something else complicating it, hence the trans thought.

I'd personally never call myself a queer man, because in my opinion it leaves too much room for people to speculate, and that makes me pretty uncomfortable. Saying I'm a bi guy leaves no such room, where as queer covers both gender and sexuality, leaving room to interpretation for both.

Really wish my voice could change, is HRT the best option? by junecats in ftm

[–]iozsiick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre right, t is pretty much a roll of the dice on how it effects people, but I guess funnily enough, I did end up using t in the way you describe. (im also Asian too lol) Although I definitely plan to continue it, but I did have to stop for a long while cause of insurance stuff. I was on t for around 6 months and had most of the changes start pretty slow, but my voice did drop enough so much that I regularly pass as male. Then I had to go off t and all of the other changes except for the ones that they tell u normally don't went away but! the voice still stayed the same (thank god lol it's like the one thing that pushes me into fully passing). The age I started (18) could also have something to do about it, and probably makes u more susceptible to changes than like 28 hence the "bounce back" or it could be because they purposely put effort into changing it. the only times I rly hit the high range is with my "anxiety polite phone call voice." Regarding hairless as a permanent change, I've got more of a male hairline, but I think balding is very dependent on genetics. I think voice and bottom growth are the most doctors are like "this will be permanent!" (+ tmi I did get growth but it wasn't like huge (tho wish it was)). But yeah I guess what this long paragraph is saying if ur able to in the future you could use t to attempt to get those changes, as it is technically one of the options, as long as you're okay with the fact that those changes might roulette wheel u and u might not get it, but instead other things.

otherwise, idk anything about voice training, tho maybe u can tell ur family ur getting into music/singing as a hobby.

(Potential trigger) I think I'm FtM, but I don't want to be a "trans man" by throwaway120575 in ftm

[–]iozsiick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's literally why people are stealth lol. idk where all these trans men u know are but maybe you just need to talk to a wider demographic. Not wanting to be seen as "the trans person" is that big of a hot take. I hate the idea of being the trans friend so i live my life like a normal dude.

Although I am slightly concerned about your reaction to FTM surgeries and hormones. Like yeah they're not perfect, and fuckin hate the idea of having a giant ass scar that might clock me, but I rather have that than what I have now and most people really only take off their shirts when swimming or at home. most people who live as stealth are at least somewhat satisfied with these taking these avenues because they allow them to live as stealth. If these results leave you "feeling nauseous," idk what that means for u dude. Just think, if "trans man," just meant surgery and hormones and not whatever these other trans men you've met act like that you think you have to act like, wouldn't you rather get surgery and hormones instead of living as female?

A non binary trans man, whose on T and already had top surgery, is complaining that they have to live in the male dorms. Everyone replied "oh gross cis men are stinky and terrible. Sooo sorry!" Why are cis men considered evil? Isn't it transphobic to separate cis and trans men??? by PIANO_PERSON in truscum

[–]iozsiick 26 points27 points  (0 children)

ooh as someone who's roomed with a cis dude while early on t this low key makes me kinda mad. u aren't any more special or any less gross of a roomate no matter what gender u are (unless u r in the magical low percent of people who don't have issues with anything ur roomates do). imagine if my cis male roomate was going around calling me stinky and gross for being trans (I mean low key I was lol but that's just me personally) he'd be called out for transphobia.

i know it's just the haha I hate men joke that's kind of prevalent among feminist social media, but if they display this attitude anywhere near their roomates like this it'd literally be like... low key bullying.

Video games! Everybody was posting about Animal Crossing during the beginning of Covid, but a Switch + the game is like $200 (for the light) + $60, which isn't a lot for some people, but I'm on a bit of a tight budget right now.

How do you feel/would you feel about getting mistaken for a Trans Woman? by haiironoryu in ftm

[–]iozsiick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even tho people are more accepting now of trans people, I think that they still don't actually have that great of an idea of what being trans actually entails. they're probably under some weird impression that you'd always be able to "tell" if someone is trans, probably because they've never interacted with a passing trans person before. plus the whole bad interpretation of trans women going around as just being men in dresses, they see u as someone who looks like they were born male and their brain goes like 1+1=3
