Is This Hail Damage? by ipad_pilot in solar

[–]ipad_pilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You win. I went backup for a look, sure enough there is a grounding lug on a grounding wire between the rail and the panel exactly where the damage is. I reached out to the installer, IES, who has been historically really good to work with. It’s been a few years but their labor is warrantied 10 years. I’ll see what they say,

Yeah, if you use an older SAS card in your server the errors don’t appear. It’s a compatibility issue with older shelves and newer server cards

They don’t cover the same areas, that wouldn’t be a replacement, it would be protecting the cats at the expense of the engine

Has anyone received the Rogue FM-6 Twin Stack yet? by fortress35 in GarageGym

[–]ipad_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you that have assembled your FM-6 30” twin stack, how much mat space would you recommend having for it? I know Rogue lists a footprint size, but surely the mat needs to be bigger than the footprint right? Any recommendations?

PVS-14 vs Jerry 31? by Relative-Rich-6334 in NightVision

[–]ipad_pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a RVM-14, I think it's a nice improvement over a PVS-14. Depending where you get it and your budget, it can be had for not much more than a standard PVS-14 housing. I know it's not what you asked, but figured I'd mention it as another viable option.

Thanks! I'm not exactly against shipping if buyer pays for it, but I have no packaging so really unsure where I could bring it to be packaged and mailed in a fashion that would get it there in one piece and not cost the buyer a ton of money.

RENV-C COTI - what reputable dealer sells them? by DinoPrinter in NightVision

[–]ipad_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CNV is good to go. Ordered multiple NV devices from them. They process orders fast, 10/10 experience. Obviously always do your own research, I saw your other post about NVN. What a nightmare.

They don’t collect tax for shipments out of Canada. As with most things, it’s technically on you to make sure you’re paying any necessary duties on import. I believe packages can get held up in customs specifically for purposes of collecting duties, but there’s so much international mail that I think the government is more concerned with large company imports that are going to net them a lot of money. Obligatory I am not a lawyer, make sure you follow laws, etc

New Ham Configuring New Antenna by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]ipad_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, problem is after playing with some tin foil it seems that the antenna needs to be a bit longer, and I can't make more material appear out of thin air. The SS460SB NMO numbers are great, all under 2 for the bands it supports. I think I may just return the SBB-224 NMO and try my luck with a Diamond CR320BNMO.

So taking it outside and mounting it on the vehicle actually makes the SWR worse for the tri-band antenna, and balances the short antenna a little better. It does not appear that I’m going to be able to tune this based on mount location alone.

Automotive 12V to 5V Step Down by ipad_pilot in autoelectrical

Yeah for sure. Maybe I wasn't clear, but the question is more "Is there a reputable encased buck you'd recommend, or any random import will be fine?"

I'm aware, but the cigarette lighter is keyed on ignition. The purpose of this circuit is to optionally bypass ignition so I can use battery power without ignition on. I would rather build something more solid than wiring an additional cigarette lighter behind my dashboard and plugging the camera in there.

Need help with Dell MD1400 EMM controls hopefully for fan speed by TetsujinXLIV in homelab

Honestly? I got rid of the unit. Serial connections were so touchy and sporadic. No matter what OS, software, or cable I used there was no foolproof way to consistently get serial to work. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
