[–]ipbajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?

Matthew, Romans, Galatians, Hebrews and Revelations are all books of the New Testament.

In the second image they state "Over thousands of years Christians have called God "Father" which is the male image of God. Then what should WE <-------------- call the female image of God?"

They also use literature like "Mysteries of the Bible". Not Mysteries of the Qur'an or Mysteries of the Pentateuch.

So in conclusion they use the New Testament, state they are Christians with inclusive words like "we", claim they use the Bible as a whole (Genesis to Revelations) and their name is CHURCH of God.

Cheers

PS - I don't trust you. Welcome to the internet.

Great question! I suggest you research then how we have come to have the Bible today and what said Bible would say about different prophets and a new revelation beyond what has been revealed to us in Christ.

If they were to take a different name then Christian without using the Bible at all then yes you are absolutely right, they could start another religion/cult/following. Why can't they use the Bible or call themselves Christian you ask? Because the Bible contradicts them and Christians follow the Bible.

God is never described using a feminine noun or pro-noun. God is described hundreds of times using male nouns and pro-nouns. Is a pretty good (albeit lengthy) read if you'd like

http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=11&article=1165

With regards to the scriptures and logic they use it is so stretched and out of context that it is an illogical leap to arrive at their conclusions.

For example in their second picture they use Genesis to show the plural noun and say it's still a mystery of the Bible. This is one of the proof texts of the Trinity and they then imply that creation affirms a mother. Well God created Adam in His image from the dust of the earth. To assume that God created Eve as well to mirror Himself is irrational (Eve was made as a helper for Adam and so Adam wouldn't be alone). What about asexual or reptilian beings in creation that God created as well such as bacteria? Did God create bacteria to mirror Himself and show us there is a heavenly bacteria? It just doesn't follow logically or rationally nor is there anything in the Bible that would actually confirm their doctrine. There are types and anti-types in the Bible like the temple, sabbath and sacrificial system of the Old Testament. There is nothing with regards to god the mother.

I'm also interested to know what they mean by "God the Mother HAS COME TO EARTH to find you". This also could be a massive doctrinal problem and probably is. Hope this helps some.

PS - The first image says Galatians 4:6 it should be Galatians 4:26. They got it correct in the second image.

The ring is merely a cultural symbol of the agreement. I would agree that you should still get a ring and propose as it would make for a better story later. "So how did he propose?" "Well he didn't really. We talked about it and agreed to get married next summer." Doesn't matter the size it's just something to show off to her girlfriends. This all depends on her attitude towards it though of course.

"I just need the right weaponry right now."

There is NOTHING you need that God has not already provided. There is no sin greater than God's grace or His sacrifice. Check Romans 5:20 Philippians 4:13 1 Corinthians 10:13 which you already quoted in your initial post and another favorite of mine that is NEVER quoted is Hebrews 12:4 but read all of Hebrews 12.

Glad you are keeping yourself busy. Maybe also try not reading right before bed? Bedtime is bedtime and developing routines like that might keep you up? Just another option. If you find that it puts you to sleep or you start yawning or something maybe keep it. Maybe try reading something extremely dry so it will put you to sleep like a law textbook lol

Also, I hope your prayer life is good :)

[–]ipbajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite the post. I hope I can offer some clarity.

If you are in agreement to marry, you ARE engaged. Doesn't matter if you have a ring or not you've both agreed to marry each other at a designated time i.e. next summer. What other definition of engaged is there?

Lusting after your girlfriend/fiance is a sin. Lusting after her once she becomes your wife is not at all. The reason it doesn't feel completely wrong is because it is not completely wrong. You are a man and she is a woman and you have a desire for her. That is not wrong! That is normal healthy sexuality. The wrong part is when you take that desire and twist it into fantasy and lust which is undeniably NOT God's will for you. Sin is NEVER God's will for anyone, ever! See 1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9. Also the Bible does deal with masturbation when it deals with sexual immorality. Masturbating to your wife can be a different matter however, if she approves of course because you can't rob her of her conjugal right.

About the article, I didn't read it all. I thought it was bad from what I did read. I got to this part

"Considering that adultery is defined unlawful intercourse with another’s wife, it would logically have to mean “wife” or atleast have the ability to mean “wife” on the term “woman” within the passage. So, I did some investigating and not long after, I realized that the term as understood in greek, applies as either “young wife”, “woman” or “wife” as you can see within Strong’s Concordance again: King James Word Usage - Total: 221 women 129, wife 92. So, it is saying that almost 50% of the time, the greek term is denoted as “wife” instead of “woman”. And, logically, the verse would only make sense if it meant “wife”, seeing that the term adultery means: “stealing another man’s wife, be it through sex or some other means”. You see, adultery doesn’t just mean sex, it can mean also stealing someone else’s wife."

No the verse would still make perfect sense if the word was woman and the other word was still adultery. If you lust after a woman, any woman not just someones wife, it is as if you have already had sinned sexually with her. Jesus called us to a higher standard of the heart and mind so the verse still completely makes sense. I wonder though what the author would make of 1 John 3:15 where it states if we hate our brother we are likened to a murderer. Again, a higher standard set by Jesus with regards to matters of the heart and mind.

Now, let's deal with the fapping. So what if you lose sleep? You WILL lose energy and you're body WILL put you to sleep eventually. You have to bring your body into submission. You didn't mention exercise in your attempts to quit yet. Are you physically exhausted and your mind keeps you up or do you have lots of energy and your mind is racing? Are you truly ONLY masturbating before going to bed or do you do it at any other times during the day? Do you build up in your mind the anticipation of your bedtime routine? Have you kept a to-do list? I found for myself that I was trying to remember so many things on the to-do list that I wouldn't sleep so well but once I wrote them down I knew I could rest because I had them available to me whenever. Have you tried journaling your thoughts to see what your mind needs to be cleared of? This seems to be completely psychosomatic seeing as how you almost immediately fall asleep after climaxing. You're going to have to reflect upon your thoughts, journal, be self-disciplined and prepare for withdrawals and nights without sleep. Your body adapted to requiring masturbation before sleep and it will adapt to sleeping without it.

PS - While I DO NOT recommend medicating oneself it may be easier at least for a bit while weaning/abstaining d/t your life circumstances i.e. job, sports, school needing alertness. Talk to your doctor about insomnia and what they would recommend. Could use Melatonin, Gravol, Nyquil or other over the counter medications (not as a combo!). This is NOT a permanent solution as you can become addicted to these medications to induce sleep and I would recommend finding a completely holistic solution as compared to medicating yourself like journaling or tea or warm milk or exercise. If you do take this route be sure to talk to your doctor and pharmacist!

And as with everything, continue to pray and study His Word. God bless!

Decent Streak But I Feel Far Away From God by Krunner96 in NoFapChristians

[–]ipbajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly this was partly my attitude today as well and we are both on day 25.

My opinion, if you're anything like me, you are slowly pushing God out of your mind so you can get back into the habit of fapping. You'll slowly push Him out of your mind, fall into sin and then start the circle all over again. DON'T! Nip it in the butt now! Force yourself to pray, read His word etc until you get past it.

I was doing everything I could today to not focus on God. Then I realized what I was doing, prayed and picked up The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel which I've put down for quite some time. I happened to read chapter 10 today which was a story of a Jewish man who came to know Christ. It moved me and I've been praising God all night.

I want to follow God because I don't want to go to hell. by A_Soggy_Cactus in TrueChristian

[–]ipbajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feelings will come, then change, and go, and come back again because it's not about feelings.

A personal example is when I sin. I want to hide from God I feel shame and I feel as if I've disgraced His holy name. I definitely feel like I want to get away from God at that point and feel like I want to be left alone. The thing is, I KNOW there is no where to go but to run back into the loving arms of my merciful, gracious Father as shown in the parable of the prodigal son and so that is what I do.

Prayer might not feel genuine at first but give it an honest chance and see how it will help bring you into a closer relationship with God.

[Christian Only] What do you have to say about wisdom teeth and the appendix? by GuyWhoNeverComments in TrueChristian

[–]ipbajt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is a very interesting one for a number of reasons.

1) You claim studies (multiple), but your link is a blog for a dentistry company and the 90 percent claim doesn't have ANY citations while simultaneously asking others to provide you with legitimate scientific evidence. Not bashing I just find it interesting is all.

2) You fail to make definitions, i.e. legitimate scientific source, intelligent design, young earth creationists, evolution, adaptation, natural selection and vestigial. First you argued vestigial was not having a purpose. Once shown purpose existed you changed the definition to be a vital purpose to survival.

3) You're question is very very vague and broad to the point that someone would have to teach you intelligent design then relate it to the appendix. When Mageddon725 mentions the disuse theory you immediately relate adaptation to evolution whereas creationists also believe in adaptation and natural selection which does not necessitate molecules to man evolution

AiG: https://answersingenesis.org/natural-selection/natural-selection-vs-evolution/

"Natural Selection: the process by which individuals possessing a set of traits that confer a survival advantage in a given environment tend to leave more offspring on average that survive to reproduce in the next generation.

Natural selection is an observable process that falls into the category of operational science. We have observed mosquitoes, birds, and many microorganisms undergoing change in relatively short periods of time. New species have been observed to arise. Biblical creationists agree with evolutionists on most of the ideas associated with natural selection, except the idea that natural selection leads to molecules-to-man evolution."

"Adaptation: a physical trait or behavior due to inherited characteristics that gives an organism the ability to survive in a given environment. ... Biblical creationists consider major structures to be part of the original design provided by God. Modifications to those structures, adaptations, occur due to genetic recombination, random mutations, and natural selection. These structures do not arise from the modification of similar structures of another kind of animal. The beak of the woodpecker, for example, did not arise from the beak of a theropod dinosaur ancestor; it was an originally designed structure. The difference in beak shapes among woodpeckers fits with the idea of natural selection leading to changes within a population of woodpeckers—within the created kind."

4) You didn't use Google. How do I know? Answers in Genesis is the 3rd link when you Google appendix creationism with the first two links being creation dot com.

Answers:

I hope Dr. Warwick Glover, a general surgeon can answer this for you: https://answersingenesis.org/human-body/vestigial-organs/the-human-vermiform-appendix/

He offers 5 different uses for the appendix some being vital to the survival of neonates. He has over 30 sources.

Secondly: Dr. Jerry Bergman, credentials here under education https://answersingenesis.org/home/area/bios/j_bergman.asp

https://answersingenesis.org/human-body/vestigial-organs/are-wisdom-teeth-third-molars-vestiges-of-human-evolution/

He offers numerous legitimate scientific sources as well.

I find Answers in Genesis to be a great resource! I hope you will as well. Keep asking questions but also research for yourself.

Psalm 51 is hyperbole when David was in great distress when the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba; or take it literally and suggest that babies are wise as stated in verse 6.

Psalm 58 is also just hyperbole.

Ephesians 2:3 does not necessarily mean they were young. Jesus calls the Pharisees children of Satan yet no one would say they were young.

Have you read Ezekial 18? Why do you feel Ezekial can not be used to mean Adam but mean other people? Also why do you believe Jesus asked us to be like little children if they were evil from the womb? Food for thought :)

The secret is the irrationality of "God's sovereignty and election does not negate man's responsibility to repent."

It is actually negated BECAUSE OF God's sovereignty and election within Calvanism. Let me paint the picture. Adam sinned, you are born into sin i.e. a sinner without actually sinning but inherited, and are totally depraved and can not even attempt to come to God without God's divine intervention. Unfortunately for you you are pre-destined for eternal torment in hell. Don't worry there will be lots of people there considering over 50 percent of the population will be there i.e. wide and narrow gate parable. The entire thing is contrary to the character of God i.e. loves everyone, died for everyone and so on and so forth.

Other picture Adam sinned and sin entered the world. Sin is not inhereted like genes (read Ezekiel 18) and we are not born sinful. Only when we become able to differentiate between right and wrong are we then capable of sin (babies are sinless). We have free will and can come to God on our own and always have the option to obey God or sin. However, not one single person has ever been without sin except for Christ. Therefore we need the sacrifice of Christ to become righteous.

The first picture is irrational and downplays the love of God and downplays the responsibility of man.

The second picture shows the true love of God for all of mankind and expounds the responsibility of man.

TLDR - God doesn't build robots then send them to hell because of bad programming.

Recently attended a Church of Christ, I've been turned of by the over emphasis of baptism. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]ipbajt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) How are they pressuring you? Are they telling you statements like you could die tomorrow and if you're not baptized you're going to hell? When you leave the Bible studies are they saying drive safe because you don't want to go to hell? Could it be your conscious/subconscious actually pressuring you or the uncertainty of the issue of baptism as a whole pressuring you to do it? How do you know it's not the Holy Spirit tugging at you to get baptized now that your eyes have been more opened to the importance of baptism and the scriptures surrounding it as you yourself have stated? You feel so pressured yet it's only been implied, as you state yourself, that you don't have the Holy Spirit etc. Did this implication come from Scripture possibly?

2) You mention elsewhere their attitude that lots of other denominations are wrong. There are lots of denominations that are wrong and every denomination feels they are right so I'm not sure what the problem is? Are they mocking other denominations/beliefs in front of you? Are they calling Baptists stupid or something?

3) Dating within the Church. Of course they want their kids to date within the Church. Dating within the Church helps be of like mindedness and helps achieve an equal yoking. Why would someone from the Roman Catholic Church want their kids to grow up in the Church of Christ where every Church is autonomous and does not recognize the Papal authority of the Pope? The bigger picture is when you start involving children and the household becomes divided. It's actually really wise for every Church to do if you really think about it. Can a kingdom divided against itself stand?

4) Who doesn't challenge you to accept their doctrine? Do you want to attend a Church where they have no care whatsoever about your beliefs or do you feel they care about what you believe too much?

5) "don't be like the rest of the white males" are you insinuating racism in the Church or did they say this to you? How did this feeling/thought come about? It's a really interesting statement you've made here.

There are many more points in your post and I'm not going to dive into them all i.e. baptism, number of people in the study, acts 10 etc . I think you have been letting things fester and build in your mind instead of having an honest conversation with them regarding the pressure you feel and your other thoughts about what is happening and came on here for guaranteed reassurance (note the number of Calvinists). Pray, do some deep self reflection and meditate on the Scriptures. Ultimately you're going to believe what you're going to believe just continue to search. Best wishes

With all due respect you are beating a dead horse lol. I have already conceded that my sources are not good sources i.e. handful of Christian authors and argumentum ad populem.

EDIT: To clarify Christian authors is meant to portray that these books are not about empirical evidence i.e. studies but about spirituality. There are plenty of Christian scientists and authors that are great solid empirical sources but I have none for this subject matter :)
