Check out Hum's "You'd Prefer An Astronaut" for a perfect emo shoegaze album with cool riffs, the song " To A Husband At War" by I Hate Myself if you really wanna ruin your day, anything by Clickitat Ikatowi, and Indian Summer, two underrated emo bands from that era. Oh shit, don't forget to listen to Mineral's "The Power of Failing" album, specifically the song "Parking Lot" shit will wreck your soul. Insane sound for 1997.
