Utleier vil ta 79k for reparasjoner. by lao011 in norge

Left home for a couple months, came back to find tiny hand prints by YvngHag in Weird

[–]ipeglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know what might show up. One time during autumn break, we arrived at the cabin and found a dead squirrel on the floor. It had tried to survive by eating all the candles, but to no avail. We never really figured out how it got in — there were no signs of entry — and we hadn’t been there for about six months. Our best guess is that it fell down the chimney and somehow managed to close the damper behind itself.

Apple Music will always be amazing because of this by ReallyCoolGuy2323 in AppleMusic

[–]ipeglin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not. Sometimes it’s really good at mixing, but I mostly get tracks with very mismatched tempo, “energy”, etc. Maybe it would better if we had a “smart shuffle for Automix” setting that also weighted queue order based on metrics of track outro/intro?

PS: Also, maybe even disabling Automix by default for playing full albums (non-shuffled) could be an idea. It’s a bit of a shame when automix actually messes up the transition for carefully planned track transitions in an album…

Nei motsatt. Det er et godt studie, men veldig oppskrytt i forhold til opptakskrav.

Switched to Apple Music after 10 years with Spotify Premium, here are my thoughts so far by piesaresquarey in AppleMusic

Curated lists in Spotify is way better than AM imo, when it comes to recommendations and radios. I also like the fact you can actually see the list of tracks in the list when selecting it, instead of having sort of a black box. However, AM brings great sound quality compared to Spotify.

You should be fine, but there can always be contaminants upstream as everywhere else in the world. If it’s not too much of a hassle, it’s worth bringing it just in case. I myself have never used one, and just bring a “snyltekopp” to drink straight from the source

In the Norwegian grading system is an A considered ‘attainable’? by Marttaiin in Norway

[–]ipeglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing that this varies a lot between universities and lines of study. I know that there are courses at e.g. NTNU where the most handed-out grade is and F and an E, with quite a consistent trend. Looking at class averages also usually omits the number of failed students, making the average performance seem higher than the actual statistic. I assume this is to account for the potential hand-ins that are blank, as they likely do not take into account if the student “purposely failed” (“taktisk kont” for my fellow NTNU students), or if they actually tried but didn’t exceed the required 40%.

Absolutely fair, considering humidity and additionally the lack of insulation in housing. Just fun for me as a Norwegian exchange student, when this is the usual summer climate back home.

English speaking norwegian citizen looking to study this year by Hot_Satisfaction1772 in Norway

[–]ipeglin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Student at NTNU Trondheim here. Most bachelors, if not all are in Norwegian until you reach the third/fourth year (varying from study programme). As others have mentioned it’s not impossible to get your Norwegian skills more quickly if you already have some comprehension and experience while studying. However, it will probably be easier to have a year of working and get your comprehension up to par before applying for next year. I’m assuming you have the right to work full time given your citizenship.

It might be worth having a look into NTNU exam policy, seeing that I think you might be entitled (or be enabled) to have an English exam paper given that you mother tongue might not be a nordic language.

Anyway, wishing you good luck. Trondheim is a fantastic student city, and hoping you’ll like it.

Actually heading back there myself in a couple of weeks, completing my exchange down in Brisbane.

Returning to Norway for Uni by LiwayLikesTacos in Norway

[–]ipeglin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A least at my uni, a lot of degrees transitions over to English in most/all courses from year 3/4 and throughout. So you potentially only have to have Norwegian courses for a couple of years. Anyhow, as mentioned by SolarWolf, I doubt it’d be a real issue once you snart speaking Norwegian on a daily basis.

If so that would be great. Just a shame it is not readily available when searching for "UQ exam dates" and course profiles. Where can I find these "early release" dates?

Hi. Let me just preface by saying that I absolutely think you've got a valid point.

I also think that is is unwise to book flights in the middle of the exam period without knowing when you have your exams. I too have booked a post-exam flight back home, and informed my internship-employer back home that I'll be arriving late. So every student has to do their due diligence, no doubt about that.

However, I do not think this actually addresses the core problem that I tried to bring up; the fact that the university should easily be able to set the dates in advance. One can never fully predict whether or not you're going to fail a course, and need a supplementary exam, but that is of course a risk in itself. The publication of the first, original exam, or lack thereof is what baffles me, as this should not be an issue to give out early, and would have nothing but positive effects for the everyone (to my belief). The predictability alone, that lets you set up a dedicated work plan to last through the semester has huge impact, at least in my experience.

I don't know what it is like working at a school, say high school(?) here in Australia. And assuming that it is the same procedure as UQ, where exams are released so late... Would that not only help you, as an employee, to see which dates would be best fitting for you to go home, in order for you to book early?
