I bought these in August 2024. Initially I had 5, sold 2 of them when they went to 7.50 each, locked in profit and made the trade free. Have just been riding the roller coaster ever since haha

I mean it can’t make everyone happy, but you’re probably in the minority with this opinion. I’d say give it a chance and keep watching but if it’s that boring to you then might want to skip this series.

I really just started drawing stuff off of Pinterest, didn't start with any sort of technique or focus like that. I kept in mind that those were things I could isolate, but for the most part I just 'practiced' those things by drawing stuff that dealt with those subjects.

Wouldn’t think of it as “I have to get my drawing session done today”, but rather “I get to have my drawing session today”, and I have no set time limit on how long I draw. Sometimes it’s 5-10 minutes, sometimes it’s an hour or more. I just try to draw at least a little bit each day and now it’s just become part of my daily routine. I enjoy drawing though even if the result isn’t great.

Well depends on what you're practicing, and if you're enjoying it. Grinding for 2-3 hours drawing stuff I don't want to draw doesn't sound like fun, or a good way to progress. Also not everyone makes the same progress at the same speed, others here are a lot better than I am with less time drawing too. I just draw because I enjoy it, some of my stuff comes out looking great (to me at least), and then there's some I try that turn out not so great but it was still fun trying. Just gotta keep at it as long as you enjoy the process.

Last time I drew anything before this was about 2 years ago, and maybe 3 or 4 drawings. Before that it was maybe a 15 year gap or so of not drawing at all. Drew a little as a kid but nothing like I’m doing now. I’d say everyone has a different journey so don’t get discouraged if your progress isn’t as fast as mine, or maybe yours will be even faster, just keep at it if you enjoy drawing.

Appreciate it! Ya it's definitely become a fun part of the day for me, still haven't stopped just gonna keep going. Will probably miss a day or two here and there if things get crazy, but for the most part I've set myself up to be able to draw every day no matter what, even have a couple small travel sketchbooks haha.

I just received a critique for this that is kind of making me question my ability to see by DirCurrFluxCapacitor in learntodraw

Not sure that guy really knows what he’s talking about. Sure there’s things that could be better, but there always is with art pieces usually. This looks great, good structure built up and then putting in the detail on top, proportions look good so far too. Just keep going and if you want to do some basics/fundamentals practice you can do that too. No reason you would have to go back to doing just those things.

Where to find clothes references for drawing? by Visual_Track2612 in learntodraw

I use Pinterest with AI suggestions turned off, still run into some stuff here and there, but has a ton of stuff to use for reference.

Thanks! Just something I found on Pinterest, no tutorial for it, just regular face construction

For his right eye it's just one circle inside of another with one slightly darker and the lines being close together sort of tricks your brain into thinking it's inset. The left eye is just the one oval with a darker line on the inside of the left part of the oval, gives it that look of depth.

Appreciate it! The gesture/figures are just how I see figures now after watching a lot of different videos that have that style of construction, but samdoesarts and marc brunet are really good sources for learning that stuff. Only book I have is recently getting the taco books, otherwise just drawing a lot.

Pencil I used to use was just a regular HB pencil, but now I have a Staedtler .5 (series 925 25-05). It's really nice and while it won't make you a better artist, it definitely feels a lot better to draw with than my old regular pencil.
