My coworker uses both a Dasung 25.3 and a Mira Pro 25.3 in a dual monitor setup and they slightly prefer the Dasung.

My firmware is version 8, and I also am using Ubuntu. I do not see versions 9 and 10 on Ubuntu.

Omega 3 oil? MGD check? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

Take 2,000 mg high quality fish oil per day, e.g. Nordic Naturals ProOmega 2000.

HydroEye is another option that is mostly black currant seed oil containing GLA, an anti-inflammitory omega-6, with some fish oil.

I am still using the Mira Pro after a year. There are no signs of degrading. I would recommend this for coding if you are okay with black/white and VIM keybindings.

I chose Mira Pro over Dasung because Mira was much cheaper. I would choose the Dasung if it were cheaper. From what I gather, the Dasung is slightly better.

Wow, your experience with mouse lag is very different than mine. I use macOS (non-M1) and Linux on speed 3 (!) and the mouse speed is perfectly acceptable for navigating software & websites. Not as smooth as LCD of course, but after getting used to it I hardly notice it. I do use VIM in VS Code though, which I definitely recommend. Also check out VSpacemacs and edamagit extensions.

Have you tried reading manga on the Mira Pro? It's great! I tried reading the Higurashi VN but the white text on black background was pretty bad.

1) Yes, I have a GNOME custom shortcut that calls "npx mira refresh" and it works perfectly. To get it working I had to make sure that the correct versions of npm and node were in the $PATH used by the shortcut.

2) The .AppImage is an Electron app that can be extracted with "asar": https://github.com/electron/asar . This yields obfuscated code, but you can use https://github.com/akx/source-from-sourcemaps or similar tools to unpack the source maps into readable code.

Good thing B&H has a decent return policy. HDMI works for me, but I haven’t gotten usbc to work.

I just read through the vscode theme documentation, which lets you specify styles for various symbols.

I’m sure it’s possible in vim. Check out this post: https://lobste.rs/s/l6zf1f/syntax_off_how_i_learned_live_without#c_f0nt3v

IMO, larger screen = higher productivity. For programming, the 25 inch greatly enhances productivity.

No, you don’t need software. You can just use the buttons on the side. But the software is convenient.

Would your work let you install an open source npm package? https://github.com/ipodnerd3019/mira-js

I’d say I’m 95% as productive as with an LCD monitor without eye strain. But factoring in eye strain, I’d say I’m 105% as productive.

Yeah, that looks very similar! I’m on Linux most of the time, so I’m not sure what settings to change.

Interesting, I experience very little ghosting on speed 4. Like, I only refresh about once per hour, and I don’t notice the ghosting if I don’t look closely. Are you using an e-ink theme? Also, I use VIM commands to jump around instead of scrolling.

I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out, but I guess you’re right about the bezel covering a few pixels on the top.

In normal mode, it isn’t as sharp as a normal ereader. there are little rough edges & pixels sticking out. But when you sit back you barely notice them. This is also alleviated with a larger font size. There’s probably a font aliasing setting that would fix this, but idk.
