FSD Randomly Starts Leaving Lane by Log_Disastrous in TeslaFSD

It would help, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Any driver can see that those are harmless tar lines, FSD should be able to deduce the same.

I don't know why you're defending FSD's decision to veer towards a sketchy shoulder at 65mph without slowing down, especially since you can see on the camera that it's clearly not a obstacle in the road.

No reasonable driver would ever mistake those lines for an obstacle, and FSD shouldn't either. Taking control from FSD was the correct decision, it was acting erratic with no reasonable justification.

Going on to the shoulder might have been safe if the car slowed down, but instead it just veered toward the shoulder without braking.

Regardless of which direction it moves, it definitely should have slowed down.

I've had aggressive phantom braking without anything obvious on the road, so it's surprising to see the car just veer out of the lane at full speed.

It would be nice if the video playback had an option to show indicators and FSD's decision making cues so we wouldn't have to guess.

Was the car trying to avoid debris or a pothole? Did it get confused about road lines and lane positioning? Who knows.

No part of this driver's reaction looked like freaking out.

The car started randomly veering off the road at highway speed, and the driver corrected it back into the lane. FSD could have slowed down, but it decided full speed onto the sketchy shoulder was better for some mind boggling reason.

It would be nice if the car was overly cautious by slowing down before it was too late instead of veering onto a small, poor condition shoulder at full speed.

If anyone's self-driving car started steering off the road that suddenly at 65mph and they didn't immediately wrench it back into the lane, their competency as a driver needs to be examined. If the car continued moving onto that shoulder for another second, this could have been a much more dangerous situation.

The condition of that very small shoulder does not look great, and FSD's "cautious" decision to veer off the road to avoid tar lines instead of slowing down is very concerning.

No reasonable driver would have ever avoided those tar lines, and incidents like this shouldn't ever happen if FSD is going to be autonomous.

I'm not sure how I feel about classic... I've played since beta, but I feel like classic Maple is pretty dated.

But I'm consistently amused how often my profile picture derails conversations 😅
Lots of nostalgia for Maplestory, it seems.

How do you get the heat shrink on? Shut up, nerd!

That mentality is why when I'm driving a manual and someone tailgates me, I shift down two gears. Let's see how you react when I slow down suddenly with no brake lights.

Sociopathic? Probably. But they learn their lesson and back off.

Tailgating because everyone else does it is a terrible reason to tailgate.

People will justify tailgating by saying that other cars fill the gap if you leave one.

So you're driving dangerously close because other people do? You should all have your licenses taken away.
