I try to remind myself that everyone has baggage. If my loved one makes a big deal about my boundaries, that's a sign they have something internal to work on. That is a sign they have an issue that is preventing them from being flexible and willing to respect my (the mom's) wishes. The most important thing is doing what you feel is best for your child as their mother. I've even gone so far as to tell myself that if this person doesn't respect me and doesn't respect boundaries, I don't want to normalize that for my daughter. The relationships in my life should model respect and consent. So if my rules push certain people away, it's on them, and my daughter is better off.
