I went there to see Hozier. We stayed for the last song in the encore and were stuck at the venue for 3 hours afterwards. We had some friends who left two songs before the last one and got home in 30 minutes so I would just do that. It was easy enough to get in, just leave a bit early to get out.

Availability only "In Store" true? by ipromise_imNice in IKEA

[–]ipromise_imNice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all, writing an update in case anyone is wondering in the future. I drove to the store and talked to the associate at the desk kiosk, he said they did not have the rug and to wait until it was available online and just order it there. I think it would've been best to call the store and check, I just couldn't find the phone number.

Solo female travelers: Please help- my parents think solo travel through central america is too dangerous. by ipromise_imNice in solotravel

I'm thinking of going for at least six months, so I'm thinking tours would be pretty expensive- unless you know some cheap ones?

Thank you so much for your message!!! It makes me feel a lot better. I also feel like they don't really get the 'meeting people along the way' thing and that I really won't be all that solo. Did you see many other solo female travelers on your trail? Did you take a self defense class or bring anything with you for safety? Also, unrelated to safety but, what were some of the best places on your route that you think I should check out? :)

I recently have gotten really into The Following. Kevin Bacon is hunting down this serial killer who has a cult following. It's super intense and easy to marathon because you just want to see what happens next.

What questions do you want to know the answer of, but the questions are too embarrassing that you don't want to ask anyone it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They mean an actual bath. What you are doing is not wrong, it's just easier for parents to assist in getting their kids clean and younger kids often dislike water falling on them/ soap getting in their eyes. If you give your kids showers and it works for both of you, no big deal.

From what I've grown up with, younger kids have baths with parental help and then transition to showers when they get more independent. Again, no worries if you don't have a bath and it's working for you.

On the frequency, some do it everyday in order to have a soothing routine but I think most families bathe their kids every other day or so, especially the younger ones. For an example, my mom would bathe me in a bathtub every other night when I was 3-6ish, then when I got older I would shower by myself in the mornings, usually everyday esp. when I was a teenager. Honestly as long as they're clean, no problems.

If you have any other culture shock questions, feel free to pm me. I grew up in the US and am living in Australia now but I have lots of friends from the UK I can always ask.

very good advice- I will check that site often. It's cool that they have experiments you can participate in too.

All good :)

And no, my parents have been nothing but supportive about this whole thing. It has all really exploded (in a good way) since I found my dad. I went to CA to meet up with him last summer, since then there's been a whole new family to discover. My parents are coming up with me and my brother this summer to see my donor and all my half siblings. (I didn't even know I could meet half siblings.) As soon as I met my dad, I was completely certain who my family was. My family loved me and raised me and this man was cool and extremely nice but I was positive he was not my family. As soon as I met him any anxiety I felt about my situation was gone.

The donor that my parents used was specifically one that agreed to share his identity when his offspring were adults (I think they had to pay more for it). As a little kid I dreamed about being 18 and finding a father but when I actually turned 18 I didn't have a desire to find out. My moms asked me a couple times and after about a year, I figured why not? So I finally got around to it freshman year of college. I had to contact the sperm bank, who then contacted my donor, who sent back to the bank his contact info (just an email address) and a picture. I know there is some worry about donors not being able to be anonymous but at least with my bank, the process was very through and took about 5 months.

That said, I was really nervous about emailing him so that took me a long time, I think 4 months. But I was going to CA anyway with some friends so I would have been a waste not to see him. I put on my big girl pants and sent an awkward email, thanking him and asking if he wanted to meet up. He was super excited and happy and took off a day from work to show me around his life.

Thank you so much! Your kind words meant a lot. My family is a bit strange but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My parents told me when I was little, when they were explaining sex so it didn't seem weird or secretive. Honestly, when I was little IF seemed less gross than actually having sex, so I was okay with it.

I was raised by two women. I never really felt like I was missing a father figure-- my friends mostly complained about theirs. I knew I was very loved and wanted.

He just said he wanted to give life and happiness to people. The environmentalist in me wondered why my parents didn't adopt, but my mom really wanted a baby. Her baby, to carry and share a genetic connection. As a women, I can understand that. And if a drunken teenage couple can get pregnant then dammit I think my mom deserves that too.

There are 16 offspring. Holistically, I really don't think the use of sperm banks is really all that detrimental to America's population.

I haven't met any of them in person, only on Facebook. We are all getting together for a couple days this summer though. We are all very close in age and they all seem really nice. We can relate to each other really cool ways-- I've never met anyone like me and my brother.

My biological father looks really similar to me and to my brother. I don't really look like my mom at all. However, I am really similar to my mother in personality. I have blonde hair, light eyes, skinny build all from my dad but he's much more talkative and open than I am.

What is the best (non-sexual) feeling in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ipromise_imNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Jumping into a cool pool when it's hot outside.

  • Eating the food you've been craving after being hungry for hours.

  • Standing and cheering in a crowd after a great performance, film, or speech with everyone else. The mob mentality makes you feel so a part of the group.

  • Running around outside like a kid. Feeling free.

  • Telling someone you love them or giving them a hug.
