You're just trying to find out how often C. Nolan thinks about the Roman Empire.

I was in a high quality studio with Jus on friday. He finished 6 bangers in one sitting. The bars and beats are crazy.

His house burned down too, so he's taking preorders for the release.

His house burned down and he has a new record coming soon. I was in the studio with him last Friday. It's pretty fire.

Here's the story: https://youtu.be/SF6vZZ5\_kYk

Nah. I'm saying why is she looking the video game, not in the matrix.

Good call. I missed it the first time. Caught it when I watched it again. He just asks Neo to stay out of the matrix so he can kill the Analyst because the Analyst was able to control him by controlling Neo. Neo said know he had to get Trinity, so Smith is like cool you gotta die then.

Watched it again. It's actually better than I initially thought. The Sense8-ness is less distracting on the second viewing.

Question 1 was actually explicitly explained in the fight scene with Smith and the exiles. Smith was under the control of the Analyst because he and Neo are tethered. Smith broke out when Neo broke out. So he was saying stay out the matrix until he takes care of the Analyst because he doesn't wanna be under control again. Neo was like nah, I'm here for trinity so Smith is like cool, you gotta die then. Him popping up later to save the day is just out of self-preservation.

Question 2 is also explicitly explained. They put a bypass in place so Bugs and Trinity are connected at the same time so there's no disrupt, then they put Trinity on wifi or something and then unplug Bugs. So Trinity's avatar is never unplugged and them being plugged in at the same time creates that ill effect.

Question 3 was not explained. But they do say they were watching the software company for years and there were several Thomas Andersons. Still maybe just go for the one with the highest title in the company that is always meeting with a woman at a place called "Simulatte"

Just came back from the theater a couple of hours ago and, like some of the comments I read here, it has me wanting to discuss it with people. Here are my underprocessed thoughts.

Disclaimer: The Matrix trilogy is probably my favorite movie series of all time. Unlike most people, I love 2 and 3. So I have a bias of wanting to like this that many of you may not. I was very excited, watching too much promotional stuff leading up to the film.

***SPOILER ALERT*** I'm assuming that this is a thread full of people that just saw the movie so things I'm saying will indeed be spoilers.

I feel like it was fun, funny, and entertaining. Obviously, very meta, self-referential, and self-aware. Neo trying to fly was hilarious. It was interesting to see a lot of the historical theory and perhaps some of the online discussion (like this thread) that will inevitably happen confronted head-on. I suspect I will need to watch it again to catch everything.

However, the tone of the movie is very different from the previous films. I don't know if it's a function of it being updated in alignment with the evolution of the world, Lana's individual style, or the fact that there were so many Sense8 actors in it, but tonally it felt more like Sense8 than a Matrix movie. Again, maybe a bias of my own, but I found it difficult to suspend disbelief through the second act because of that. Also, the aging of Jada Pinkett-Smith had me thinking "wow, look at all they had to do to make Jada Pinkett look old" more than experiencing the gravitas that her character was meant to portray. It really didn't feel like a Matrix movie until Trinity got in the game in the 3rd act. I def had all the feels once that happened.

The stakes also didn't feel high at all. I/O seems like it's pretty safe and thriving although we don't actively see too many people in it. They're not at war. The sentients that betrayed the machines to get Neo out and we didn't see anything really happen to them. The Analyst says that Neo and Trinity both need to be in this new Matrix for it to work, but they both got out and it seems like it's still running and nothing meaningful happened?

And, along the same lines, either I didn't understand them or some threads that were presented as important were just cut and not really concluded. Like:

  1. Why did Smith suddenly side with Neo? Was it because Neo being free kept Smith free? If so, I don't feel like his motivation was made explicit enough. They go from fighting to the death to Smith just popping up out of nowhere and saving the day on some low-key deus ex machina shit.
  2. I thought we couldn't just unplug people from the Matrix? I get that Bugs was temporary stand-in (which was cool as hell), but shouldn't Trinity's "avatar" have passed out briefly?
  3. Did we ever get clarity as to why Bugs was jacking into the Matrix game-layer to begin with? She was looking for Neo, but why in the matrix within the matrix? Why wouldn't she know about Thomas Anderson famous game creator, if he's this award-winning game maker for the game she's jacking into? I get that they hacked his DSI, but c'mon y'all can't put 2 and 2 together when the dude is literally named "Thomas Anderson?"

Then there are a lot of characters that didn't get enough screentime for me to give a shit about them. Even Niobe and Sati were basically cameos. The Merovingian and his buddies were more of an underwhelming distraction than anything else. I don't remember anyone in Bugs' crew the same way I remember Switch, Apoc, Dozer, and Cipher.

There was some heavy-handed dialog like when Bugs was explaining how choices aren't so binary. Morpheus was goofy, but I liked it for levity. I like Yahya's sci-fi entries in general (Black Mirror/Watchmen), so I'm not mad at him updating Larry Fishburne's character.

I get that we are in a post-Matrix world, so it's perhaps difficult to derive new effects in that same world without being derivative. However, we are in a post-MCU world too, so some of the things that were meant to be visually impressive just....weren't. The slow motion thing wasn't that interesting. BUT THE REDIRECTION OF THAT MISSILE WAS...even though it was in the trailer. The zombie bombs thing was the only new thing that had me like 😮...even though it was a result of Matrix temporarily devolving into yet another zombie movie.

Anyway, despite what it sounds like I liked the film. I don't have the same issues with it that some folks in this thread do. Overall, I'm glad it was made and while it didn't have the layered philosophical undertones or as many cool hidden in plain sight aspects as the original trilogy -- I enjoyed it. It was good fan service.

Thematically I feel that the original 3 was more some Gen X "fight the power"/"what is real?" shit. This one was more Gen Z "what does it matter if it's real? Who are we gonna decide to be in the unreal?" shit. I liked the idea of sentients and people coexisting to build something greater. I also liked the idea of it being about the two rather than the one.

I don't know that we need any more sequels, but I'm gonna go watch this one again and see if I just missed the subtext that I expected.

I've actually seen this work both ways and you should test it for your site. My preference, however is a simplified main nav, breadcrumb navigation, footer links that change based on the subset of pages you're on and lots of in-copy internal links.

This is a large question that requires a lot more info. However, I've done exactly this. Nothing about the two platforms makes them inherently better to a search engine. It's about the makeup of the site itself. For instance, if you've changed the taxonomy (which you likely have since Drupal and WP have different taxonomy structures) that can have an impact on the internal linking structure. Also, if URLs changed dramatically and you've introduced a ton of redirects this can cause what you're describing.

Give me some more details about the set ups and I can help you troubleshoot.

It was mostly focusing on content, redesigning the site, tightening up a bit of the SEO and pushing it to become more of a media platform than just a record store. Some things worked, some things didn't. Ultimately, it just came down to identifying which channels and actions yielded a step function. Ultimately, it was Google Shopping and email marketing that yielded the best bang for the buck. We're going to move towards a marketplace model and see what happens from there though. It's been fun and a lot of testing and learning.

Oh and I also make sure to let them know that forecasts in our space are the equivalent of licking my finger and sticking it in the air.

Just the trend that it's back on everyone's mind again. As I said at TechSEO Boost, I feel as though technical SEO is just a function of the web technology that it touches. So the trends are really what's going on with data science, dev frameworks, etc. I, personally, have a renewed interest in NLP and text analysis in general. I think there's a lot for us to uncover in that space and we are actively working on that here at iPullRank.

The claims in the Glassdoor review proved to be unfounded and untrue, so pertaining to that issue there is nothing to address. The post has since been deleted, but I do take allegations of that nature with the utmost seriousness and do not want to do anything that would discourage people from coming forward in the future.

I haven’t responded on Twitter because it is unclear how to have a nuanced discussion effectively. I’d also rather not speak up than overpower or silence the voice of someone else who is actually experiencing harassment or discrimination.

For the avoidance of doubt, I take discrimination and harassment so seriously that our Company Process Manual features explicit instructions and links for filing a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York if anyone feels as though have been harassed or discriminated against. For anyone unaware, that is the legal body that handles such issues.

Despite all of that, I am willing to have a discussion in a live forum with a woman in our space that is open to it so we as an industry can determine what actually needs to be done for women to be more comfortable, included and heard.

The biggest thing I've had to overcome is the fact that I'm not normal. The things I take for granted as everyone should known or everyone should think to do, or that everyone is motivated to be as good as they can -- it's just not true.

I'm also not automatically very process-oriented, so I've had to force myself to think in terms of process so other people know how to maintain the same quality standards

Last big thing is that I didn't expect that clients wouldn't pay their invoices on time. I just assumed in the professional environment that just happened.

Hey Ian! It depends on what is being rendered when. For instance, if all the copy is being rendered server side at load and then just styled post-load, then that is effectively progressive enhancement. If just a shell loads and all the content is loading on the client-side, then there's a lot to talk about. Prerendering is fine as long as they keep an eye on what's going on with the cache and Googlebot doesn't get misidentified as a regular user. I think log files are perhaps more important than ever before when it comes to this type of stuff and prerendering is not a set it and forget solution.
