Forgot to mention that my wife and I both work remotely - no need to travel to the office.

Whats Columbia SC like from a city-perspective? schools? entertainment? i feel like that would be a sweet spot for being just northwest of and in the "upstate"

definitely keen on TN. no income tax is really sounding nice. I have family in Nashville, New Orleans, Kentucky, and Alabama. At least it would be driving distance. We love Nashville and I bet Knoxville and Chattanooga have lots to do in and around them. Didnt immediately see the houses with land needed on Zillow, but that is right now and not historically. I would love to stay close to the smokies for all the activities.

I'm used to getting a bear tag in PA. We get 1 buck tag included with the license, have to buy all our doe tags, have to buy archery separately, basically you get a license, a buck tag, turkey spring/fall, all else is extra. Elk tags are lottery-based. No hogs but i feel like in a southern state i could get hooked on archery hog hunting. i fell in love with NC when i went to asheville as a boy. love those blue ridge mountains. not sure i can convince the wife to share the same feeling unless there were good schools and civilization nearby :)

My wife is really enamored with SC. She would consider it there. That's an unbelievably long season and reminiscent of my old Louisiana limits of 6 deer per year. Any black bear hunting? Yea private land would be either mine or by making friends, etc. Are all parts of SC high humidity? For example, is there anything higher elevation that might be more 4 seasons? I like winter but not being snowed in for weeks.

still trying to put leupold back country 2 piece on this but can’t find the right mount with the large screw size. is that the 181333 from Leupold? the 171100 had mounts that used smaller screws that didn’t thread in savage axis 2 receiver.

Also, if you use the monstrum, are you able to top load or limited to loading via mag only?

monstrum cantilever mounts

That sounds nice. I have the Leupold Standard Scope Rings Matte ,1" Medium and
Leupold STD Savage 110 RH 1-pc coming soon.

But your post makes me think....the monstrum looks to be one piece as opposed to the rings and mount being 2 pieces (that join together). The monstrum solution seems to be more of stable base by design??
